Facilitate the development and delivery of the Global Compact's programming in Africa.
You have:
- Master’s degree in management, Economics, International Relations, Business Administration, Political Sciences, Public Administration or other relevant areas.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in project management; working on business development, organizational capacity development, and business process improvement is required.
- Direct experience working in or with the private sector and small businesses in particular is required.
- Experience working on issues related to corporate sustainability is preferred and understanding of sustainability as it relates to UN-business collaboration is desirable.
- Experience working on issues related to African economies and market trends is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in French is desirable.

Result of Service
The Consultant, Africa Programming will be responsible for facilitating the development and delivery in the region of the Global Compact’s programming portfolio within the Global Compact’s Africa Hub team. The Consultant will work on a project for 24 months with clear deliverables and expected results, per the workplan to develop in the first weeks of service.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Global Compact is the world’s largest sustainability initiative with over 16,000 participating companies in over 160 countries and nearly 70 Local Networks around the world. As a special initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General, the United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. * Coordinate the delivery of regional and cross-country programmes including Events, Accelerators, the Academy content regionalization, and adhoc initiatives supporting the private sector in embedding in their operations and strategies the principles of human rights, labour/decent work, environment and anti-corruption. * Act as key interlocutor with the Headquarters and Country Networks in the region to contextualize and develop the regional and country value proposition to businesses, including leveraging global platforms and initiatives such as the Africa Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC) and the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI). * Facilitate and lead the development and delivery of programmatic partnerships, where relevant, to elevate the positioning of the Global Compact in the region with innovative initiatives that support businesses in their sustainability journey and in their contribution to the SDGs acceleration. * Provide day-to-day programme delivery expertise to Country Networks in the region, facilitate cross-country learning, and support the monitoring of programme implementation including the management of periodic programmatic and reporting documents.
