Consultant – Advocacy Support

Overview

Design and format advocacy materials and publications for UNODC.

You have:

• Advanced university degree in translation or interpretation, English, communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, graphic design, or related area is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in the area of graphic design is required.
• Previous experience in the area of translation is required.
• Experience working with international organizations in the area of communication and branding is required.
• Strong communication skills in a multicultural context is required.
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers and design software is required.
• Fluency in oral and written English is required.
• Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.

Result of Service Under the overall supervision of the Head of UNODC/GMCP, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: - designing and formatting of C-IED and CBRN handbooks - designing and formatting of MDA Catalogue - designing and formatting of Fisheries Handbook - designing and formatting of Caribbean harmonization, prosecution, legislation report - designing and formatting of Caribbean Maritime Crime Outcome document - visibility products Caribbean/WH visibility package - designing and formatting of Maintenance Report - designing and formatting of Maritime Trafficking of Nuclear and Radiological Materials: Multi-Regional Risk Assessment Report - designing and formatting of Briefing Package 2021

Work Location Home-based, no travel

Expected duration 27 October 2021 to 31 December 20211 for 48 working days

Duties and Responsibilities The purpose of this assignment is to design layout of advocacy material and publications of GMCP, including C-IED handbook, CBRN handbook, MDA Catalogue, Briefing Package 2021, Fisheries Handbook, Caribbean harmonization, prosecution, legislation report, Caribbean Maritime Crime Outcome document, Caribbean/WH visibility package. The assignment will also aim to design Maintenance Report and Maritime Trafficking of Nuclear and Radiological Materials: Multi-Regional Risk Assessment Report.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: - Advanced university degree in translation or interpretation, English, communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, graphic design, or related area is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: - At least 5 years of experience in the area of graphic design is required; - Previous experience in the area of translation is required; - Experience working with international organizations in the area of communication and branding is required; - Strong communication skills in a multicultural context, including ability to correctly interpret messages and adequately reflect input in written texts is required; - Proficiency in the use of personal computers and design software is required; - Experience in working on public information, communications or advocacy is desirable. Language: - English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.
