Result of Service The consultant will assist in the implementation of the project activities of "Science, Technology and Innovation Parks for Sustainable Development: building the expertise in policy and practice in selected Asian and African countries”.

Expected duration 01.07.23 to 31.03.24

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the project officer in the Science, Technology and Innovation for Development (STIDS) Section of the DTL, the consultant will be responsible to assist the implementation of the project and in fulfilling the various requirements of the project, including the bi-annual progress reporting by - Assist in the preparation of annual work plan and country-level roadmaps for implementing the project activities - Assist in the monitoring of the implementation of the project - Liaise with relevant parties to the project, including beneficiary countries, consultants and Chinese experts - Assist in the coordination of project activities with relevant stakeholders, including organizing regular meetings, attending and preparing meeting reports - Administering the work relating to country-level activities in beneficiary countries and China - Prepare draft bi-annual progress reports on the implementation of the project from April to September 2023 and from October 2023 to March 2024 - Assist in the organization of events under or related to the project, including preparing draft concept notes and programmes of events, getting speakers and participants, logistical arrangement for the events as well as reports of these events - Collect feedback from the participants in events, including through surveys - Prepare draft communication materials, including news items related to the project - Update the project portal on the UNCTAD website; and - Perform other tasks as required for the implementation of the project

Qualifications/special skills An advanced university degree, Master, in economics or public administration is required At least 2 years of experience related to coordination, monitoring and evaluation of project or programme implementation is required. Experience related to UN technical cooperation projects is required.

Languages Fluency written and oral in English and Chinese is required.
