The Individual Giving (IG) team in the Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP), based in Geneva provides global support to over 50 fundraising National Committees (Natcoms) and Country Offices (COs). A key part of any fundraising operation is to be able to provide cutting edge systems that allow UNICEF to serve, manage and understand its supporters. Key technologies are donor management systems (CRM based) and payment providers in order to maximize and optimize fundraising performance to allow UNICEF to help the world’s most in-need children.

As UNICEF embarks on an intense period of IG product development, alignment and co-ordination with markets / internal stakeholders is essential to ensure that platforms and products are fit for purpose, optimized for fundraising and compliant to data security policies and procedures.

The Individual Giving (IG) Fundraising Systems Business Analyst will lead the development of IG based fundraising systems from the global UNICEF business perspective. IG fundraising systems include the following:

1. Individual giving fundraising CRM systems (Salesforce) – responsible for managing and collecting the majority of income for fundraising markets.

2. Channel based fundraising technology solutions (such as Face to Face platforms, mobile solutions including app development and Telephony systems).

3. Systems to Drive Digital transformation across all Individual Giving markets.

The consultant will be responsible for defining and articulating features and functionality required to improve IG fundraising performance to relevant technical resources, and supporting the design, development and implementation of new technology through their various life stages.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

MAIN TASKS

  • Act as an individual giving fundraising systems Business Analyst for all fundraising markets (primarily Natcoms but also including some high priority country offices), ensuring markets make correct technology choices and are able to implement solutions effectively from an individual giving point of view.
  • Act as lead / main point of contact for the Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES) CORE implementation projects for National Committee’s.
  • Business Analysis - Gathers CRM / Salesforce requirements for IG fundraising systems through detailed consultation with fundraising markets by organizing and facilitating workshops to understand market needs.
  • Gathers / categorizes requirements that apply globally (core products) and those that are market specific (localizations) ensuring that core and local solutions are compatible.
  • Works internally with Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) plus other stakeholders and externally with market suppliers, recommending the strategic direction for IG based products with the goal of increasing IG fundraising performance.
  • Manages the articulation of requirements in an agile development methodology and contributes to the technical design of workable solutions.
  • Support the individual giving digital delivery team in providing a global payments solution for markets.
  • Manages the user acceptance testing (UAT) process and documents bugs, issues, change requests into iterative development cycles.
  • Supports markets during and after implementation of new systems.
  • Escalates influential / impactful decisions to Digital Delivery Manager, Chief of Individual Giving where appropriate.
  • Ensures that developed systems comply with data privacy and security policies (such as GDPR, PCI-DSS etc.)
  • Monitor and evaluate new technological opportunities for potential tests and adoption by UNICEF.

Deliverables & Timeline

(The required standard and detailed timeline will be agreed with the supervisor in advance):

Deliverable 1: Support the implementation and adoption of CORE For at least 4 National Committees. Positive feedback from National Committee is the criteria to measure the effectiveness of this deliverable. (By Dec 2024)

Deliverable 2: Support to Salesforce based IG fundraising markets to optimize performance. Positive feedback from markets is the criteria to measure the effectiveness of this deliverable. (By Dec 2024)

Deliverable 3: Support ongoing development of CORE Salesforce managed package, including development and ongoing maintenance of standardized IG fundraising dashboards. (By Dec 2024)

Deliverable 4: Development of data warehouse /rollup summaries / archival solutions for National Committee’s by working closely with ICTD colleagues (By Dec 2024)

Deliverable 5: Creation and maintenance of system documentation (By Dec 2024)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

A first level University degree in Information technology, database management, systems development or similar field is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in CRM system implementations and operational management, especially in the context of individual giving fundraising is required.
  • Experience in Salesforce and / or Donor Perfect is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Fundraising, especially individual giving, along with transaction / income processing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of common fundraising data analysis, reporting techniques and metrics is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of payment/ banking systems, cultures and processes is highly desirable.
  • Excellent project management experience Applicants must demonstrate prior experience of managing similar large-scale projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to problem-solve is required.
  • Experience of general data management processes (migration / integrations etc.)
  • Strong communications skills and ability to form good working relationships with stakeholders.

Language:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN languages is an asset.

Remarks:

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees in USD against the deliverables listed above. If there is a need for business travel, the travel costs will be covered by UNICEF separately. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
