This consultancy is being established to support the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit with the execution of the multi-country Brand studies, across an increasing number of markets. The global brand studies are complex studies led by AMI team and that are broadly used in the organization across multiple teams and geographies.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

In close coordination with the Market Research Specialist, contribute to the project management, set-up, delivery and deployment of the results across the markets included in the studies, in collaboration with stakeholders (HQ teams, Country teams, AMI team) and research agencies.

  1. Support the internal planning and set up of the studies with the agency and country teams: internal coordination, participation to weekly calls with the agency, collection and review of country comparators, assets and review/revision of translations.
  2. Prepare country reports and presentations, including quality checks, addition of relevant insights or analyses from other studies to bring added value, and clear research summaries of key insights and opportunities. Coordinate reporting with the agency and the research specialist according to the deployment plan
  3. Organize and run engaging presentations/webinars to enable country teams and internal stakeholders to identify actions following the results.
  4. Run relevant analyses to join the dots with other research/insights available to bring added-value and actionable insights in the country and global presentations. Provide additional specific deep dive analyses (eg. Regional or global trend analyses, audiences deep dive etc.)
  5. Provide technical support on the Barometer dashboard – conducting relevant data queries, supporting markets or internal stakeholders, facilitating access and usage to the platform.

Deliverable #1: Planning, coordination and research set up- Indicative timings: July-December 2024

  • Manage the planning, coordination and research set up of the studies with the research agencies (including participation to relevant weekly calls).
  • Support Internal planning of the studies with stakeholders from HQ, Regional offices and countries, delivering clear and relevant communications.
  • Collect, review and consolidate relevant information for the study set up (eg. Country comparators selections, brand assets and review/revisions of translated questionnaires)
  • Ensure smooth coordination and set up phase, respecting the agreed research deadlines
  • Study wave 2: Estimated number of countries: 12 countries
  • Study wave 3: Estimated number of countries: 20 countries

Deliverable #2: Research results preparation and delivery of two wave studies:

  • Preparation of high-quality country reports and presentations, including data checking/improving the reports submitted by the agency, to deliver clear key learnings and actionable opportunities to the teams
  • Organize and deliver clear and engaging presentations for the country teams and key stakeholders- in due time following the agreed AMI deployment plan
  • Deliver clear executive summaries with key findings and opportunities to the markets to help drive the actionability of the research
  • Study wave 1: 14 countries - Indicative timings: July-September 2024
  • Study wave 2: 12 countries - Indicative timings: February-April 2025

Deliverable #3: Research and data analyses

  • Provide additional ad hoc deep dive analyses using the Barometer data via our data analytics tool (E.g. global trends analyses, regional brand analyses, deep dive on specific audiences, specific issues, or linking Brand findings to other relevant audience studies). Deliver clear and visual presentations outlining key findings and opportunities for UNICEF within agreed timings.

Deliverable #4: Technical support – Barometer Dashboard

  • Provide timely technical support on the Barometer dashboard based on internal needs. –Technical support could include running relevant data queries, supporting markets or internal stakeholders accessing the results they need, facilitating access and usage to the platform, etc.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or higher) in Marketing, Market Research, Business or any other related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or higher) with an additional 2 years of experience in relevant fields may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Market Research areas, brand research, quantitative research and digital research methodologies, some at the international level, is required.
  • Previous experience in research/branding/communication in the private sector is a strong asset.
  • Prior experience in market research for a non-profit organization / UN organization is desirable.
  • Robust experience in Excel/data analytics. Experience with SPSS/Analytics tools/ Harmoni is an asset
  • The creation and delivery of engaging presentations for multiple markets is an asset.
  • Experience with interactive research dashboards or data visualization tools is an asset.
  • Experience working in an international environment is required.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees in USD against the deliverables listed above. If there is a need for business travel, the travel costs will be covered by UNICEF separately. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
