This unique partnership takes the shape of a wide range of projects undertaken across the world, covering areas of mutual interest and all of UNESCO's fields of competence: Culture, education, freedom of expression and equal access to information, environment, water and oceans, as well as a bolstered scope of policy dialogue. The project *Social Media 4 Peace* aims to strengthen resilience of fragile societies to potential harmful content spread online, in particular hate speech inciting to violence while enhancing freedom of expression and the promotion of peace through digital technologies, notably social media. The project *\#CoronavirusFacts: Addressing the ‘Disinfodemic’ on COVID-19 in conflict-prone environments* aims to strengthen citizens’ resilience to COVID-related disinformation and thus contribute to the achievement of the SDG target 16.10. Long Description ---------------- **Purpose of the Assignment:** Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Brussels Office, and the direct supervision of the project coordinators, the Individual Consultant shall provide his/her communication expertise to raise visibility of the UNESCO-EU partnership, with a particular focus on two EU-Funded projects Social Media 4 peace and #CoronavirusFacts. 1\) The Consultant will assist the Liaison Office with regards to its advocacy functions towards the European Institutions and partners in Brussels, and contribute to increase visibility of UNESCO-EU Partnership, notably by: - Managing daily the Office’s website and social media accounts (Twitter/Facebook and Instagram) and monitoring monthly the results of the visibility activities of the Office. - Preparing news articles, stories and social media posts about UNESCO-EU partnership, results, and activities of UNESCO-EU funded projects. - Developing and designing specific media content and promotional campaigns, in collaboration with sectors at HQ and field offices concerned. - Assisting the Office in continuing to enhance the working relationship with the United Nations team in Brussels by participating in the communication group meetings and by promoting joint UN activities in Brussels. Long Description ---------------- 2\) The Consultant will contribute to promote the activities and results of the project *Social Media for Peace* in line with EU’s visibility guidelines, by: - Developing a visibility plan for the first year of implementation and propose visibility activities based on available financial resources. - Preparing news articles, press releases, stories, and social media posts (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) on the activities of the project by liaising with the implementation units in UNESCO’s field Offices in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kenya, and Indonesia, as well as with project partners. - Promoting outreach/visibility materials produced by implementation units in the field and project partners on UNESCO’s website and social media. - Monitoring regularly the visibility of the project. 3\) The Consultant will increase the visibility of the *\#CoronavirusFacts* project in line with EU visibility guidelines, by: - Collecting outreach/visibility materials produced by Field Offices involved in the project and promoting them on social media. - Preparing news articles and social media posts (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) on the activities of the project. - Monitoring regularly the visibility of the project. Long Description ---------------- **Timetable and Deliverables:** ***Contract duration*** - The duration of this contract is of eight months. The assignment will be based in Brussels, Belgium. Due to the current sanitary situation, teleworking will be compulsory until further notice. ***Contract deliverables*** - Visibility plan for the first year of implementation of the *Social Media 4 Peace* project by 28th May 2021; - At least 3 news articles and 6 social media posts per month about the results and activities of both *Social Media for Peace* and *\#CoronavirusFacts* projects. - Monthly visibility report on the activities of the Brussels Office and its social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) - Visibility/outreach report of the activities of the *Social Media for Peace* project in 2021 by 17th December 2021. - Visibility/outreach report of the activities of the *\#CoronavirusFacts* project for 2020-2021, by 17th December 2021. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** - Advanced University degree in international relations, political science, communication, public relations, development or other related fields. ***Work experience*** - At least one year of working experience in communication, media relations, journalism or international development cooperation. ***Skills and competencies*** - Very good understanding of the European Institutions and their functioning. - Excellent knowledge of social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and design software such as Adobe Photoshop/InDesign. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in multicultural environment with external and internal partners. ***Languages*** - Excellent knowledge of English and French **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- ***Education*** - Degree in journalism/media. ***Work experience*** - Previous experience with UN and/or other International organizations. **BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS** ----------------------------- The monthly fee will be 2,000 EUR. The fees of consultants are expressed in gross amounts. Consultants are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local laws.
