The Egyptian authorities have recently developed a ten-year nomination development plan to update its Tentative List for enhancing strategic planning for advancing on the nomination development. Long Description ---------------- **Assignment** Under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab States and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Culture, the individual specialist shall prepare **a working paper on the Egyptian Museum in Cairo** for its enhanced safeguarding for sustainable development by the application of UNESCO culture conventions. To this end, the individual specialist shall perform the following tasks: Long Description ---------------- **1) Preparation** a. Read supporting documents provided by UNESCO to become further familiar with the general context of the implementation of the World Heritage Convention and other relevant instruments in Egypt; b. Conduct desktop research and prepare a draft working paper (Approximately 30 pages in English) on the Egyptian Museum in Cairo focusing on its heritage value, and submit it to UNESCO for feedback. The draft paper will cover the following aspects of the site; \* Significance of the museum building, its integrity, and authenticity, \* The state of conservation including factors and risks affecting the property, \* The progress in the ongoing project for the masterplan development, \* Comparative analysis with museums including those inscribed on the World Heritage List and under the Enhanced Protection of the 2nd Protocol of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict (Hague Convention), \* Bibliography and references. The draft paper will also propose a strategy and action plan to advance on the World Heritage nomination development; c. Submit the draft paper to UNESCO for feedback; Long Description ---------------- **2) Participation** a. Present the draft paper to the Egyptian authorities at an online workshop to be organised by UNESCO to obtain feedback. b. Take notes of the feedback, discussions, and recommendations shared during the meeting to get reflected in the final paper. **3) Follow-up** a. Collect additional written contributions after the workshop; b. Update the draft paper and proposals for the strategy and action plan and submit them to UNESCO for feedback; c.
