JOB PURPOSE

In line with WFP’s aim to achieve operational excellence, there is a need to invest in staff skills. This has led to the development of the WFP Logistics Training Framework, which presents a coherent approach to supply chain staff capacity development. As part of this framework, a key element is the implementation of a face-to-face Technical Logistics Training Initiative. This initiative will deliver a series of high-quality face-to-face trainings covering core technical logistics skills to WFP staff globally. To support the roll out, a dedicated and experienced training profile is required and who will work with relevant WFP and supply chain units as well as field staff to successfully develop and implement the initiative.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Review existing WFP technical logistics training content;
  • Work closely with Learning and Development consultant assigned from the Supply Chain Workforce Management Unit (SCOW) to develop training packages;
  • Develop the WFP face-to-face technical logistics training implementation plan in line with the Logistics Service’s learning strategy and the identified needs and gaps;
  • Ensure face-to-face technical logistics training implementation plan is developed including content scope and facilitation with a focus on sustainability and cost efficiency;
  • In collaboration with subject matter experts, lead the development of specific training content and supporting materials as part of the face-to-face technical logistics training;
  • To ensure alignment with best practices within the sector, lead the diversification of sourcing of content and support, including utilizing capacities of the commercial logistics sector and learning institutions;
  • In collaboration with the SCOW, foster synergies and interoperability within WFP Supply Chain technical units, as well as other WFP units to ensure the training implementation plan aligns with and compliments ongoing training initiatives;
  • In collaboration with the relevant focal points and field colleagues, follow up of the preparation and provide administrative support for the training sessions,
  • In collaboration with SCOW, design a longer term training management and facilitation plan including provision of Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions to support sustainable and cost efficient implementation.
  • Monitor progress and impact of the training as well as provide regular reports and updates on the project status to relevant focal points and Supply Chain management;.
  • Other as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Advanced University degree in Adult learning, Humanitarian or International Affairs, Disaster Risk Management or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses;

Experience

  • Minimum of eight years of postgraduate in experience in Training, Emergency Preparedness & Response-related exercises.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from diverse backgrounds;
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communications skills, with responsive interpersonal skills and effective communication;
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse, dispersed teams and building partnerships;
  • Demonstrated understanding of Emergency Preparedness & Response within the humanitarian sector and coordination of humanitarian operations involving Government, Military and International agencies including both NGOs and commercial sector actors;
  • An understanding of logistics and supply chain processes in a humanitarian environment is desired.

Language

  • Fluency in English is required and a second UN language is desired.
