How can you make a difference?

Objective:

The overall objective of the assignment is to produce digital content on Child Online Protection to be hosted on UNICEF’s online learning platforms, primarily the Learning Passport https://egypt.learningpassport.unicef.org/. The Learning Passport is an online learning platform launched by UNICEF to provide interactive learning opportunities, which encompasses learning materials for children, teachers, and parents. This is in addition to educational content for school children including online textbooks, educational videos, as well as additional supporting tools for parents of children with learning disabilities.

The developed package should include:

-12 activities/games targeting students in primary, secondary, and high school;

-One story with illustrations; and

-Two short, animated videos.

Methodology:

-The Consultant should closely coordinate with the Subject Matter Expert with regard to the visualization and gamification of the content to get an understanding of the content material and organizational context.

-Provide a logical and smooth transition from one activity to the other, with clear linkages to the knowledge sets tackled by each activity.

-The digitized packages should use a programming language that enables different delivery modalities (offline and online).

-Creativity and innovation are key in the development of the entire assignment.

-Use of open-source technologies is preferred.

-Activities should also be accessible offline without any deficiency in any feature.

-Design should follow UNICEF Accessibility Standards based on WCAG 2.0 AA – See Annex 1.

-Design should be supported by all browsers for at least their 2 most recent versions.

-The Consultant should anticipate feedback & comments on each delivery with UNICEF stakeholders. This iterative process will ensure the digital materials align with UNICEF’s vision and objectives. The Consultant should have this planned during the indicated timeline.

-While developing content, the consultant should prioritize user-centric design principles, ensuring materials are engaging, intuitive, and suitable for the target age groups.

-Before final delivery, the Consultant should conduct thorough testing of the digital materials across different devices and platforms, ensuring consistency and addressing any technical issues.

Conditions of work:

The assignment will be an external output-based individual that should be carried out in direct collaboration with the UNICEF Country Office. The assignment will not require continuous presence in the UNICEF Country Office premises but will entail continuous contact with the Direct Supervisors.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

-Bachelor's degree in business administration, Economics, or any relevant discipline

-At least 10 years of experience in developing high-quality online content related to Child Protection.

-Experience in developing online learning in low-bandwidth environments and knowledge of delivering online learning in Egypt

-Strong familiarity with the Egyptian educational system and the ongoing reform process

-Experience in International organizations is an asset.

-Fluency in English and Arabic Languages is mandatory.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
