Result of Service The objective of the consultancy is to advance the integration of gender dimensions across ESCAP’s work through training of SONCA personnel. Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Head of Office of SONCA and the management of SONCA’s gender focal point, and with support from respective staff of ESCAP’s Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Section, Social Development Division, the selected consultant will work to enhance the capacity of SONCA personnel on gender equality and empowerment of women and girls, by preparing and facilitating a gender training and preparing related guidance materials.

Expected duration 13.02-29.05 2023

Duties and Responsibilities To provide a basic-to-intermediary-level training to SONCA personnel on the gender-differentiated impact of SONCA’s priority areas of work and how to appropriately incorporate gender equality and women empowerment dimensions into work processes and project proposals prepared by SONCA personnel. This training should be based on the latest empirical literature on the subject, consider ESCAP’s gender marker, be interactive and focused on adult learning, and be developed in close coordination with SONCA staff.

Qualifications/special skills- Master in social sciences, international development, gender studies or related field required. - Post-graduate qualifications desirable. - Developing and delivering gender-related training; incorporating gender-related perspective into projects within an international development context; gender-marker application; familiarity with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDG framework required. - UN experience and familiarity with Caucasus and Central Asia region required. - Facilitation/ training skills for adult learning desirable.

Languages- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required, working knowledge of Russian and/or a local language of SONCA member countries desirable.
