To help achieve the overall communication section goals and execute the communication plan of 2021 which has a big digital component and focus on the website The aim is to build a strong platform that can be perceived as a credible source of info on topics that matters to children, youth, and parenting.

Communication section in Jordan is responsible of all the country office communications online and offline The section collaborates with programmes sections to help them communicate their programmes and achievements It also support the overall global communication goals and KPIs to help build a strong brand and position.

How can you make a difference?

Collaborate with the digital communication officer to come up with:

• Website Content strategy and Site Mapping, Create a sustainable, audience-focused and clear strategy for the UNICEF Jordan website identifying areas of content growth and addressing key audiences based on UNICEF’s digital transformation plans and best practice • Prepare internal workflow processes and roles and responsibilities to ensure that the website is always updated with timely information, campaigns, programme content, articles, blogs, press releases and reports • Prepare an annual calendar for the website homepage with clear editorial guidance and timelines identifying primary and secondary content hierarchy based on the communication calendar and outline design needs; • Develop clear editorial guidelines for incoming content which is audience and SEO-led, with a particular focus on the Stories section of the website; • Develop an SEO strategy; • Prepare a content strategy for key evergreen, flagship, branded multimedia content needed for the main pages of the website with a focus on video; • Prepare a digitalization plans for the research and reports section of the website for flagship publications.

Website Content Development and Updates

• Oversee, manage, update and maintain content on unicef.org/Jordan, including foundational sections and pages of the website like 'What we do', 'About Us', programme sections, campaign pages and other key institutional content. • Develop new and attractive web content on the Drupal Content Management System (CMS) and upload for publication; • Create campaign pages to inspire action and increase time spent on page; • Improve overall design on website, working in partnerships with UNICEF’s designers; • Work with UNICEF to create, develop, curate and/or edit compelling and audience-led content in English and Arabic that meets the highest level of UNICEF editorial standards; • Edit and write web content and stories to drive engagement and inspire audiences to take action for children; • Ensure timely uploading of key UNICEF content including press releases and advertisements; • Ensure every piece of website content is edited as per the UNICEF style book and has correct grammar and spelling – as well as for continuity, logical arrangement, readability, clarity of expression, internal consistency and is SEO-friendly; • Support the planning and execution of SEO and Google Ad Words campaigns; • Regular monitoring and evaluation of website traffic and audience behaviours, setting clear targets for growth and providing regular progress reports; • Develop the Web Editorial Strategy based on lessons learning and analytics.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: A university degree in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Development Studies, or related fields.

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant, progressively responsible, professional work experience in writing and/or editing, of which at least one year involve managing website content and digital communication channels. • Outstanding ability to write and edit external digital communication materials, ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form. • Ability to transform dense technical and programmatic information into engaging content that is accessible to the general public and a wide array of partners and stakeholders. • Experienced and current in digital content and audience trends, with knowledge of current best practices in digital communication strategy and engagement and knowledge of best in class digital media platforms. • Experience with content management systems, web tracking tools, as well as software and applications relevant to the position is required • Experience of Drupal CMS is preferred • Experience using Google Analytics and SEO tools. • Detail-oriented, creative, able to work efficiently with the team • Knowledge of United Nations or other international aid or NGOs highly desirable.

Language: Fluency in Arabic and English

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

This position is not considered an elevated risk role. However, UNICEF reserves the right to conduct further vetting/ assessment within the scope of child safeguarding as appropriate.
