Purpose: Under the direct Supervision of the Technical Manager, Medicines and Nutrition Center, Support UNICEF Supply Division in sourcing quality Nutrition and Medicine products for humanitarian, development, and emergency response contexts. Note: This is a temporary cover for staff on stretch assignment.

Scope of Work: 1. Prepare and maintain technical specifications 2. Technical screening of requests and sales orders. 3. Prepare technical part of bids, including requirements, evaluation criteria, Invitee list 4. Perform technical dossier and sample assessment in line with UNICEF quality standards and requirements. 5. Prepare technical conclusion for every bid, in collaboration with Quality Assurance Center. 6. Prepare product technical guidance documents as needed 7. Provide technical advice in relation to UNICEF procurement of nutrition and medicine supplies 8. Any other duty as might be required by the supervisor.

Decision making and key impact/key results: 9. Active sourcing for suppliers for key products to meet programme and emergency needs. 10. Signs off on technical specifications and technical evaluations 11. Contributes to procurement strategies for nutrition and medicine products

Education: A completed degree in Pharmacy with an advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in Pharmacy, Public Health, Nutrition, or Food Technology / Engineering. * * A first level university degree (Bachelor) in Pharmacy or related medical field, in conjunction with seven years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages: Fluency in English is required; fluency in another UN language such as French or Spanish an advantage

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years progressively responsible professional work experience working with specialised nutrition and medicines and food products and or supplements is required, along with knowledge in the areas of product development, manufacturing, institutional purchasing of nutrition and pharmaceutical products and management of country nutrition and medicines programmes.

Relevant professional work experience with nutrition and medicines programmes in developing country contexts is an advantage. Experience in an International organization, United Nations or NGO is desirable.
