- Demonstrated experience of econometrical and/or database analysis research, preferably through a record of academic publications.
- Advanced/Expert use of Stata or similar statistical software.

Purpose of the job**
Under the guidance and supervision of the UNICEF LAC Social Policy Regional Adviser, the purpose of this consultancy is to support the data analysis and writing of rigorous research pieces related to the regional care agenda. This work is part of a broader initiative aimed at generating knowledge and supporting the regional policy dialogue on care systems led by SPU.
Specific Tasks The consultant will work within the UNICEF Social Policy team in the Regional Office and will have the opportunity to contribute to make a large impact on the knowledge generation and policy dialogue efforts led by UNICEF in this sector. Specifically, the consultant will (i) support the revision and production of quantitative econometric analysis of national household surveys in selected countries, in order to characterize and understand the role of children and adolescents in care work and their implications on child development and wellbeing, as well as on the broader social organization of care; (ii) report and present analytical results; (iii) revise and contribute to a draft an academic paper on the subject matter to be presented at a regional conference and published.
Expected Results The contractor is expected to deliver:
1. Revised draft academic paper for presentation at conference 2. Brief report presenting findings from quantitative data analysis (.doc format) 3. Sequenced data analysis for replication in statistical software (do files) 4. Adjustments to draft academic paper following revisions for publication
Supervision: the consultant will work under the supervision of the UNICEF LAC Regional Adviser, Social Policy. Duration: this is 40 days work consultancy within a period of two months. Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
