The Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES) is a mechanism to deliver UNICEF’s Strategic Plan and the foundation for reaching the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It brings to life UNICEF’s goal of winning support for the cause of children from decision makers and the wider public. As a “How” Strategy, SES is a set of enablers empowering UNICEF colleagues to reach advocacy, public engagement and fundraising goals with individuals: driving positive supporter evolution and personalized supporter journeys worldwide; leveraging state-of-the-art technologies and information to customize experiences locally and fostering positive change and collaboration within UNICEF.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant will be managing the technical implementation in each country, together with the Central team, the Country Project Manager and the Implementation Partner Project Manager. The position sits within the ICT team, working in close collaboration with ICT, PFP Individual Giving (IG) team and Country Office. The incumbent will report to the Senior ICT business Relationship Manager.

The Country Office (CO) SES Technical PM/Knowledge Management Specialist will provide implementation oversight in implementation of SES Digital Platform, ensuring a smooth transition from the Implementation to go-live stage.

1. Project Management and Implementation oversight for local markets

  • Planning, design and management of project scope and deliverables, based on the official SES Engagement model
  • Develop a detailed project plan (backed by DevOps) as well as a visual project timeline for Stakeholder communication
  • Manage the day-to-day activities in the implementation teams. Actively coordinate, track and monitor the project tasks
  • Enforcement of technical and delivery standards and the reference architecture
  • Provide input to resource planning and budgeting activities
  • Coordination with Service providers, including UNICEF internal business teams and technical teams as well as external implementation vendors and other third parties
  • Perform risk management on projects. Manage project risk and escalate issues to the appropriate level when needed
  • Technical process enforcement and improvements, including the agreed Engagement Model
  • Provide input into successful post go live processes and improvements
  • Project Change Management
  • Project Closure

2. Communication and Knowledge Management Strategy

  • Analyze information needs and users’ requirements to incorporate them into SharePoint information management or other recommended communication solutions. Recommend enhancements in the functionality of existing procedures and systems as required.
  • Develop strategies and approaches to improve and accelerate uptake of deployed solutions and usage of solutions.
  • Monitor, track and communicate the effectiveness of training and knowledge management products, provide input to training plans and to fundraising country offices
  • Work with CO Lead, ICTD Core team, IG BAU team and IG Coordination to devise strategy for ongoing support, training, and knowledge management needs.
  • Collaborate with CO teams, ICT Teams and IG Teams to define metrics and reporting for overall usage across countries, Design and develop reports and dashboards to track and report on these metrics.

Deliverables:

Output 1: Planning & Implementation for Country offices selected for implementation (1 to 4 markets/COs)

  • Detailed project plan (backed by DevOps) as well as a visual project timeline for Stakeholder maintained for each market
  • Tracked and monitored the project tasks performed by business owners, technical SMEs, and the vendor
  • Provide ongoing weekly/periodic project updates for ICT ad Project Management meetings; with plans for Project Schedules and budget; Travel plans, Resource plans and Risk Logs
  • All project phase transition ceremonies and phases documented and recorded
  • Each CO/Market implementation will be composed of following phases

  • Up to 3 releases of 6 weeks duration each

  • 4-6 weeks of UAT
  • 2 weeks of Go Live

  • Service provider and implementation partner deliverables validated and signed off as per plan

  • Project artifacts organized and maintained in central repository for each CO Implementation
  • CO project retrospectives, lessons learned organized and documented
  • Project handover documentation and artifacts maintained in central repository.

Output 2: Communication and Knowledge Management Strategy Training and Knowledge Management

  • Comprehensive analysis report outlining technical information needs and user requirements, along with actionable recommendations for incorporating them into SharePoint information management or other recommended communication solutions. This includes a clear roadmap for enhancing existing procedures and systems.
  • Strategy document for ongoing technical support, training, and knowledge management, highlighting key activities and initiatives required for continuous improvement aligned with project goals.
  • Monitoring and tracking reports on the efficacy of technical training and knowledge management products, with detailed insights and recommendations for improvement. Input provided to training plans and support provided to fundraising country offices to ensure effective utilization of solutions.

Adoption and metrics

  • Strategy document outlining approaches and plans to promote and accelerate the adoption of deployed solutions, resulting in increased usage and user engagement.
  • Defined metrics and reporting framework for overall solution usage across countries, along with developed reports and interactive dashboards to effectively track and present these metrics to stakeholders.
  • Established reporting mechanism capturing training activities and adoption metrics, regularly analyzed and reported to measure the progress of solution uptake. Recommendations provided to enhance adoption rates.
  • Developed and operationalized monitoring tools and reports to track adoption, usage, and programme metrics. These tools provide insights into the progress and effectiveness of the implemented solutions and enable data-driven decision-making. Ad-hoc information requests fulfilled with accurate and timely data.

Communication framework

  • Collaborated with ICT department to develop a comprehensive communications framework that supports effective communication and engagement with stakeholders regarding the SES project.
  • Collaborated with ICT and IG teams on the development of Business-As-Usual (BAU) SES Support frameworks. These frameworks outline the processes, procedures, and support mechanisms required for the ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the SES project.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in Management Information Systems, Computer science, business administration, information technology management or other related social science field. A com-bination of a first university degree combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the advanced university degree.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated work experience in areas related to information management, project management, knowledge management, communication or related areas is essential.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in projects involving Fund Raising and CRM projects (Salesforce)
  • Hands-On experience developing reports and dashboards with PowerBI
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, SharePoint, MS DevOps and reporting tools like PowerBI essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and client-focused orientation.
  • Effective and creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Team-player who works well with different personalities and takes responsibility for individual work.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under time pressure with strict attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, (both written and oral) to translate complicated business requirements into technical based language, and vice versa.
  • Passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working in the international aid and development sector
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience in the UN system is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
