Background:

World Vision International Lesotho (WVIL) is a member of World Vision International, a global Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities to overcome poverty and injustice. World Vision serves all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. WVIL has been operational since 1987 assisting communities with various interventions spanning across health, education, child protection & safeguarding, water & sanitation, livelihoods, advocacy and justice.

With a National Office in Maseru, WVIL implements 9 Long-Term Development Programmes across 8 districts, serving more than 500,000 beneficiaries mainly children. Our goal is to empower households to support children through economic and skills development initiatives.

As the strategy cycle (2021-25) is nearing phasing out, WVIL is in the process of reviewing its operating model and strategy for the cycle (2026-30). The transformative strategy will be based on new contextual trends as influenced by both local and global factors.

Assignment:

The consultant will be expected to conduct a landscape assessment that provides context analysis in support of the strategy formulation process for World Vision International Lesotho (2026-2030).

The purpose:

The assessment combines data-driven precision with creative foresight for developing a clear compass guiding World Vision International Lesotho (WVIL) through a transformative strategy formulation process.

Duration : September through October, 2024.

Location : World Vision International Lesotho.

Start Date : 1st September – 30th October, 2024.

Reporting to : The National Director, WVIL.

Specific Objectives:

  • To conduct an assessment of the political, economic, sociocultural, technological, environmental, and legal aspects of the Lesotho context that affect World Vision’s work with vulnerable children.
  • To conduct/derive a vulnerability assessment targeting the most vulnerable children (MVCs) in Lesotho using already-developed tools from World Vision and the Institute for Economics and Peace (the online multi-dimensional child vulnerability mapping tool/portal)
  • Compile program monitoring and evaluation data for reflection on strengths/opportunity for improvement for WV Lesotho.
  • To disseminate the key findings and recommendations to WVIL .
