Purpose of Activity/Assignment: UNICEF works in Iraq to save children's lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential by supporting the Government of Iraq in realizing the rights of all Iraq's children to survival, development, protection, and participation, and the creation of an enabling environment to ensure strengthened accountabilities for children with an equity approach.

Scope of Work: Under the guidance of the Chief, SBC, the consultant shall be performing the following four tasks: 1. Data Review Data review of the SBCC data sets and research conducted in 2021-2022 including the recent Nutrition community perceptions study and presenting the data collation research and the method and approach. Deliverables/Outputs: Report on the data review of the SBCC data sets and research conducted in 2021-2022 including the recent nutrition community perceptions study including the method/approach for data repository. 35 days

2. SBC messages and Channels of Communication for SBCC Nutrition c) FGDS to be conducted among young people and groups of people living with disability to contribute to the qualitative nutrition communication assessment. d) Identification of key Nutritional messages that can be disseminated through traditional and non-traditional channels of communication. Deliverables/Outputs: Final FGD findings including key messages on Nutrition. 60 days

3. Data Interpretation and Synthesis a) To interpret the data collected through the community assessments and behavioural surveys/research b) To present and collate the data – recommend data presentation strategies and compilation for SBCC c) Creation of a data repository for SBCC insights (qualitative/quantitative/action-oriented research etc) Deliverables/Outputs: Create data Repository for SBCC data. 60 days.

4. Final report Deliverables/Outputs: Submission of the final report. 15 days.

Duration: 125 working days spread over a time span of 6 months. Remote consultancy without travel required.

Recruitment qualifications: - Master’s Degree in Social sciences, food & nutrition and communication research - 3-5 years of work/field experience in designing materials, conducting desk reviews and developing community assessment tools e.g FGDs, using SPSS software (in case if required) - Experience in working on Nutrition and Behaviour Change Communication. -Clear understanding of the Communication research (FGDs, KIs) -Ability to interpret, analyse and synthesis data sets using SPPS or other data tools. - Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant. Candidates must submit an all-inclusive fee for the assignment. UNICEF will provide travel for the assignment and in-country travel if required.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
