Contract

This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, A Future

How can you make a difference?

Since 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the situation for millions of children in the South Asia region, causing them to miss out on lifesaving vaccines and healthcare, leading to repeated school closures, exacerbating mental health issues, and deepening the malnutrition crisis in the region. The bleak economic outlook for the region risks further aggravating inequities and depriving the most vulnerable children of their fundamental rights. In parallel, a pandemic-related rise in misinformation has threatened access to accurate, trustworthy information on child and maternal health, mental health, nutrition, and wellbeing.

As the leading organization promoting the rights and well-being of every child, UNICEF has regularly been sharing expert advice on vaccination, child and maternal health and nutrition, mental health, play, and learning with parents, caregivers, and young people in South Asia through its website and social media platforms, including its newly established parenting portal and youth corner. Building on the success of the past two years, UNICEF seeks an experienced content producer to further build reach and engagement with parenting, caregiving, and youth audiences in South Asia.

Purpose:

To support the UNICEF Office for South Asia (ROSA) Communication & Advocacy Section with the overall planning, designing, and production of content on immunization, child health, infant and young child feeding, maternal health, early child development (ECD) and mental health, primarily for parenting and caregiving audiences, as well as youth audiences.

Reporting to the Regional Communication Specialist and under the overall guidance of the Regional Chief of Communication, the contractor will plan, draft and produce innovative communications assets such as web articles, explainers, and expert videos for ROSA to build reach and engagement with parenting and caregiving audiences as well as with youth audiences.

The contractor will also support the formulation and development of child health-related advocacy plans and regional messaging in order to further the advocacy agenda in favor of zero-dose children suffering from multiple deprivations in South Asia.

Key Assignments/Tasks:

  • Develop a monthly editorial calendar with engaging and educational content (articles, blogs, stories, copywriting) for parenting and youth audiences for the parenting portal, youth corner, and digital channels managed by RO as relevant.
  • Produce timely and audience-tailored content for parenting and caregiving audiences on immunization, infant and young child feeding, early childhood development, child and maternal physical and mental health
  • Leverage social listening insights, analysis of the performance of previous content, and monitoring of social media to identify new opportunities to respond to needs, concerns, and questions from online communities
  • Support the plotting and development of parenting and caregiving user journeys, with strengthened linkages across UNICEF South Asia’s multiple digital platforms (including U-Report), with the objective of maximizing retention, loyalty, and engagement
  • Where relevant, adapt and localize new content and articles for parenting audiences produced by NYHQ, to be shared with Country Offices in the region.
  • Work directly with young people in South Asia to produce new and engaging multimedia materials for youth-friendly platforms (including but not limited to Instagram and TikTok), with the goal of enabling youth to fully participate in advancing the child rights agenda in the region, building affinity and trust with young people, and strengthening UNICEF’s position as the go-to organization for children and youth
  • Support the rollout of the child health and immunization advocacy agenda in South Asia, including through developing advocacy messaging on zero-dose children, multiple deprivations, and the broader PHC agenda
