The purpose of the consultancy would be to provide support to the Europe team which has a large partner portfolio, with ranging needs and key moments coming in 2024. Specifically, the consultant would provide support on preparations for, coordination around and facilitation of meetings leading up to key moments in 2024.

The Public Partnerships Consultant will support the Europe team with upcoming key moments for advocacy, influence and resource mobilization across the team as well as producing analytical and knowledge management products.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

Analysis and monitoring of partner intelligence products

1. Prepare comprehensive and substantive analyses, briefs, notes, statistics, and other information requirements for senior management's meetings with minister level counterparts, senior public sector partners and member state officials, parliamentarians, or head of major institutions.

2. Conduct an analysis of the allocation of European partners ODA trends to inform engagement and boost resource mobilization for children.

3. Knowledge management of partner intel

Coordination

4. Facilitate meetings with relevant partners.

5. Internal coordination across PPD and other UNICEF divisions to ensure smooth communication, information sharing, inputs to briefing notes, etc.

6. Maintain mapping of Europe team partner engagement across UNICEF – e.g. humanitarian briefing, global programmes, technical meetings, etc.

7. Coordinate internal working groups and monitor different phases of UNICEF participation to events (registration to event, preparing pre-meeting briefs, follow up on outcomes and draft NfRs, oversight the collection of inputs for drafting communiqués, etc.).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Master’s degree in Global Studies, Political Studies, International Relations or a relevant field.
  • One year of professional experience in national or international public service related to external relations, resource mobilization, planning, or project management related activities. Experience working with UNICEF, or a UN entity would be an asset.
  • Experience working with Salesforce (“UNISON”), Microsoft Excel pivot tables and Power BI are required.
  • Knowledge and experience in project planning using Gantt charts is required.
  • Fluency in English and French is required. Some knowledge of Spanish or another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese or Russian) is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
