Context and Purpose of the Consultancy:

The Operational Analysis and Technology Center (OATC) based in UNICEF Supply Division provides digital solutions to supply division centers and colleagues to maximize the potential of data to inform day to day operations and to automate their processes to increase efficiency and improve decision-making.

OATC is seeking a talented and motivated Power Apps developer to join the digital apps team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building custom Power Apps solutions for our colleagues, as well as providing ongoing support and maintenance for existing solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Power Apps, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and the Power Platform.

Together with the Digital Apps Manager in OATC, the Power Apps Developer will support the liaison and coordination of a significant number of stakeholders in the business automation area, to collect requirements and transform these into working solutions.

Technical skills in Power Apps, IT project management, user trials and training are essential. Interpersonal skills to interact with UNICEF Supply Division stakeholders are very important. Fast paced, autonomous work practices are essential.

Scope of Work:

• Design and build custom Power Apps solutions to meet user needs • Integrate Power Apps with other Microsoft technologies such as Power Automate and Power BI • Work closely with clients to understand their business processes and requirements • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing Power Apps solutions • Stay up-to-date with new features and capabilities of the Power Platform

Deliverables:

• Project plan, regularly updated • Plan, Implement and deliver the Technical Screening Power Apps based tool for the Immunization Technology Centre • Plan, Implement and deliver the Budget Request Power Apps based tool for the Budget review committee. • High frequency work schedules and timeline dependencies across technical teams, including 3rd parties • High frequency liaison with business owner counterparts including action item coordination and documentation of findings, next steps, or joint decisions

Tasks/Milestone 1: Technical Screening Power Apps Tool Deliverables/Outputs: Version one of the Technical Screening Power Apps Tool Timeline: March 2023 – June 2023

Tasks/Milestone 2: Budget Request Power Apps Tool Deliverables/Outputs: Version one of the Budget Request Power Apps Tool Timeline: July 2023 – September 2023

Tasks/Milestone 3: Refinements and enhancements to the tools based on user feedback Deliverables/Outputs: Planned enhancement changes are completed Timeline: October 2023 – November 2023

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Academic: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field • At least 2-3 years of experience developing Power Apps solutions • Strong knowledge of the Power Platform • Experience with Power Automate and other Power Platform components is desired • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously *A relevant first-level university degree in the above areas combined with relevant qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Professional Experience: • Project management using established frameworks • Software implementation experience in UN setting is a plus • Multi-stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Other Skills and Qualifications: • Strong technical communications skills • Rigorous follow-up and organizational skills • Fast-paced working method
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
