Background

Save the Children in Sumba is implementing a comprehensive long-term Sponsorship Program for 10th years and potentially other programs within the next several years. After 10 years of implementation, Sponsorship programs will measure the changes through Endline evaluation. The Endline Evaluation is to assess the collective impact of these integrated core programs throughout their implementation period. This evaluation is critical in determining the sustainability and effectiveness of the programs in creating a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of children in West and Central Sumba. Therefore, Save the Children in Sumba requires support personnel to maximize the process at the Endline Evaluation. This post holder will work under the supervision of District Coordinator, MEAL Support, and Sumba Field Manager. S/he will conduct the data collection in West Sumba and Central Sumba for the Endline Evaluation process.

Deliverables

Conduct Qualitative Data Collection for Endline Evaluation

Job Holder will conduct the qualitative data collection in West Sumba and Central Sumba in the Endline Evaluation process. The minimum tasks assigned are as follows:

  • Conduct the qualitative data collection, that may include in depth-interview, participatory Focus Group Discussion, and direct observation, in West Sumba and Central Sumba
  • Actively participated in the interviewer/facilitator training and child safeguarding session
  • Distribute permission letters for data collection to the required institution, including village government, district government, school.
  • Obtain parental consent for children invited to participate in the data collection process prior to the scheduled data collection
  • Ensuring the data collection process runs well, and child participants are safeguarded as per the Save the Children principles.
  • Transcribe the interviews, FGDs as required and annotate them with the interviewers/facilitators notes
  • Uploaded recordings and notes into the share point managed by Save the Children Indonesia.
  • Submit daily reports and confirm data to ensure data quality and validity

General

  • Any other task and responsibilities assigned by MEAL Support / Sumba Field Manager to comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Required Background and Experience, Skills, and Behaviors

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant areas (social works/anthropology/education/health). A minimum of 2 years experience in community engagement is preferable
  • At least three years of working experience in qualitative data collection or research related activities
  • Proven experience in data collection especially conducting in-depth interview and participatory qualitative data collection methods
  • Have good knowledge of the environment in West Sumba or Central Sumba. Ability to speak in the local dialect is preferable.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software is preferable
  • Owning a private vehicle and Have SIM C
  • Proven ability to work effectively within set timeframes and being able to work under pressure
  • Excellent in social and interpersonal skills.
