BACKGROUND

Since 2022, the EMPOWER Project has been implemented to strengthen sustainable cocoa farming communities through an integrated approach that combines economic empowerment, child protection, women's leadership, financial inclusion, youth engagement, and multi stakeholder collaboration. Throughout four years of implementation, the project has generated numerous stories of change across communities, local governments, private sector partners, and civil society organizations. Beyond delivering project outputs and outcomes, EMPOWER has contributed to strengthening community resilience and creating lasting systems that continue beyond the project period. As the project approaches completion in August 2026, Save the Children Indonesia intends to produce a EMPOWER Journey Book documenting the journey, lessons, achievements, and human stories behind the EMPOWER Project. Unlike conventional donor reports, this publication will present the project's journey through compelling storytelling, high-quality photography, visual narratives, and evidence-based reflections, making it accessible to diverse audiences including government, development partners, private sector, academia, and the wider public.
