How can you make a difference?

The WASH Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO), is seeking an individual Consultant to conduct the Landscape analysis of using 4IR technologies, Financing labs and related technical support in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in East Asia and Pacific Region.

The original goal of this study is to provide an overview of the current applications of key 4IR technologies (Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things and Big Data, Blockchain, Drones and Remote Sensing, and Virtual and Augmented Reality) in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector (WASH) globally and in East Asia and Pacific region, and outline the main opportunities and challenges in deploying these technologies in the WASH sector.

The study will define challenges and opportunities of applying 4IR in water, sanitation and hygiene service provision, share case studies and provide recommendations to UNICEF East Asia & Pacific Regional Office to strengthening WASH programming through [innovation, Capacity building, Financing, Governance, and information and data.

The study will also build the link with the existing initiative in the region such as Financing labs, working with Multilateral development banks (MDBs) and support technically country offices in financing and WASH climate resilient proposal devilment and resources mobilization effort.

Impacts:

It is expected that working through 4IR, WASH financing labs, partnering with MBDs will bring effectiveness and efficiency in delivery water sanitation and hygiene services to the population and consequently improve the wellbeing of the children.

Duration of Contract: 80 working days during November 2021 – September 2022

Working Location: Working from own premise with mission travel is expected.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Finance, economy, partnerships, public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree is required.
  • A minimum of ten years of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
  • Relevant experience in water, sanitation and hygiene programme/project development and management with Multilateral development banks and Global Climate initiative.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
