Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) is a global alliance of over 250 national governments, donors, civil society organizations and other development partners working together to catalyze political leadership and action, improve accountability and use scarce resources more effectively. The ultimate goal of the partnership is to achieve universal access to water supply and sanitation. UNICEF hosts the Secretariat of SWA.

The communications of SWA are managed and coordinated by the Communications Team (CT), composed of one Communications Specialist, a Digital Communications Manager, both based in the SWA Geneva office, and a Storyteller, based in London. The Communications Team also works with a wider network of suppliers, from designers to copywriters, from video producers to translators.

How can you make a difference?

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the Communication Team to effectively and efficiently implement digital communication projects. These services include, but are not limited to, social media management, proof reading, copy writing and translations in Spanish, design of media products, and formatting documents. The consultant will also be involved in some research activities.

Expected results

The core deliverables required of the Junior Communications Consultant are:

  • Support in the design of visual materials like flyers and social media images,
  • Social media management tasks (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn):
    • Compilation of partners’ handles and profiles
    • Translations of social media content in Spanish
    • Monitor social media conversations, including through tools like Hootsuite, and engage with Spanish partners on social media suggest ways that SWA can contribute and build its community
  • Ensure Spanish website is updated
  • Ensure Spanish Newsletter is correctly translated
  • Collect all digital data on different platforms
  • Perform any other substantive and/or administrative task that might be required

DUTY STATION

The supplier may be located anywhere but must be readily available and responsive to work with SWA Communications Team, based in Geneva.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Bachelor’s or University degree in communications, journalism, development studies, international relations, Public Relations or related field
  • Two years practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
  • Knowledge of Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Knowledge of CMS - Drupal
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.

PROPOSED PAYMENT SCHEDULE

By Deliverable

Payment upon deliverables/milestones: UNICEF will only make milestone payment based on achievement of specific deliverables as listed on the table above. These payments should be stated in terms of percentage. Also note that UNICEF does not make advance payment except under certain conditions in line with UNICEF Financial Rules and Regulations.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
