How can you make a difference?

SBC LACRO seek an experienced graphic design specialist to create communication materials aligned with SBC brand guidelines and quality standards to support the regional knowledge management efforts in both areas. The consultant is responsible for conceptualizing and developing graphic design assets for regional events, publications, and knowledge management initiatives on SBC; promotional materials and other initiatives as requested; and ensuring deliverables adhere to UNICEF visual guidelines and quality standards. The consultant will be supervised by the SBC regional Specialist and will work closely with the SBC team in LACRO.

Scope of the work:

Design and creative strategy

  • Support the creative aspects of and SBC strategies while collaborating with and SBC team members in LACRO to conceptualize visual materials for reports, events, publications, and knowledge management activities, some of the, for donor purposes (GAVI)
  • Support the implementation of a unified graphic design look for SBC digital pages in SharePoint
  • Review and adjust developed materials as requested, when necessary, for compliance with SBC, and UNICEF Guidelines and quality standards.

Develop graphic and visual assets.

  • Conceptualize, design, and develop visual assets such as illustrations, banners, graphics, and publication layouts for SBC in LAC, including but not limited to SharePoint page; e-mail marketing; event logos, agenda, and invitations; and promotional materials, such as brand t-shirts and banners.
  • Conceptualize and design layouts, infographics, quote graphics, and visual cards to communicate key messages and specific publications such as case studies, events, and themes.
  • Create creative designs and custom illustrations to support team members in preparing interactive multimedia presentations (Google Docs Presentations, PowerPoint, etc.).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A Bachelor university degree in Communication with focus on advertising, branding and marketing.
  • Proven experience in developing design for advertising industry (graphic design portfolio)
  • Proven experience in using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Experience in working with UNICEF and UN agencies.
  • Fluency in one of the LAC regional languages - Spanish, English or Portuguese.

Administrative details

Supervision: The consultant will work under the overall supervision and guidance of the UNICEF LACRO SBC Regional Specialist.

Workplace: The consultancy is home-based.

Duration: Estimated start date is 1st September until 31 December 2024.

How to Apply: Application should be submitted online and should include: TMS application form duly completed, Cover Letter, Bachelor Degree certificates and Financial proposal (Daily fee or deliverable fee).

Qualified candidates are requested to indicate an all-inclusive (lump sum) fees for the services to be including all associated administrative and travel costs.

Consultants must have their own equipment, tools and materials needed to perform their services. They will use their own laptops/computers, any application or system needed to complete the assignment. They need to provide the full service without using UNICEF resources. The access to UNICEF email and system is restricted to UNICEF staff therefore consultants should not be granted access unless it is imperative to complete the assignment.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
