How can you make a difference?

Objective:

The objective of this assignment is to support UNICEF in:

a) Providing technical support to the TV drama production on parenting to enhance the edutainment value of the production based on the scripts content map developed by UNICEF.

b) Support in capacity building for media producers on the use of media for social and behavioral change

c) Providing technical support to the Ministry of State for Information on content production and distribution for the Waqtena digital platforms.

Methodology:

The selected candidate will work under UNICEF supervision in close collaboration with the TV Drama production company, relevant government counterparts, media networks and content producers.

Revise TV Drama scripts version 4

Update the TV Drama content map to highlight the key behaviors promoted (FGM abandonment, breastfeeding, father engagement in childcare and acceptance of diversity, gender equality and social coexistence) based on the scripts’ final version and actual shooting plan

Support the TV drama production phase by working closely with the drama director to reflect the behavioral objectives and ensure that they are properly reflected in the shooting plan

Support the TV drama editing phase by working closely with the drama director to reflect the behavioral objectives and ensure that they are properly reflected in the editing of the final episodes based on UNICEF and technical committee feedbacks

2. Support the MOSI in media advocacy and capacity building

Technical support to sustain the MoSI digital platforms Waqtena, related content production focusing on prioritized behaviors (FGM abandonment, breastfeeding, father engagement in childcare and acceptance of diversity, gender equality and social coexistence), and on behaviors promoting prevention of COVID 19 and protection from the pandemic secondary consequences such as violence against children and women. The support will be provided by facilitating the production of user generated content through existing community-based networks supported by UNICEF and/or any other relevant partner; by facilitating content producers field visits when relevant to make the services availability visible; by advising content producers on how to produce content that facilitate behavioral change.

Payment by days based on number of minutes of multimedia content produced (at least 10 short videos of 3-5 minutes each, at least 5 posts a week for 6 months and 12 user generated content produced)

Conditions of work:

This assignment is off-premises and can be done remotely. The incumbent can work on a remote basis after discussion and arrangement with the Supervisor. As the incumbent will not be office based, there will be no need for office space or Laptop.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Master’s degree in international development, social and behavioral studies or any relevant social sciences.
  • More than 10 years of expertise working on media production and scriptwriting
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships
  • Range and depth of relevant experience especially with similar projects
  • Previous experience working with UNICEF is desirable
  • Experience working in a multicultural team and environment and meeting strict deadlines
  • Experience in work with government counterparts and UN/international organizations
  • Previous experiences on edutainment production, research and evidence-based content production
  • Previous experience in managing workshops and scriptwriting processes using participatory techniques
  • Fluency in English language written and spoken – Arabic is an asset

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
