OBJECTIVES

To achieve the above, this assignment will focus on providing support to UNICEF Egypt SPME Section and the Egyptian government in developing impactful communication content to promote and advocate for issues relevant to children with a specific focus on:

- Knowledge Products developed by the SPME in collaborations with other UNICEF sections and external partners such as the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL), the American University in Cairo (AUC), Cairo University’s Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), CAPMAS, UNHCR, NCCM, MoPMAR, MoSS;

- Events such as seminars, conferences, lectures;

-The Citizen Budget and Participatory budgeting activities jointly carried out by UNICEF and MoF to increase or maximize expenditure on children or increase participation in the budget process for children;

- Promotion and dissemination of SPME products to maximize the outreach opportunity with targeted categories.

Tasks to be accomplished

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the SPME, and in close collaboration with the External Communication section, the incumbent will undertake the following tasks to support the Office in raising the profile of its activities and results in the country. The incumbent will timely and accurately submit all corporate content to External Communication for approval and clearance. The consultant will work closely with all units in the SPME section and may be supervised for specific tasks by the staff leading a specific initiative

Specific Tasks include:

  1. Collaborate with the SPME and External Communication sections to expand the use and promotion of UNICEF Egypt Social Policy products in relevant social media campaigns and on institutional and personal social media channels with particular reference to Twitter and Linkedin.
  • Support with proposing, developing, and proofreading the digital content on all social media platforms (institutional and personal);
  • Develop/support the implementation and analysis of dissemination plans for each knowledge product;
  • Develop Q&As to support the moderation of social media channels, flagging risk and proposing opportunities to deepen engagement;
  • Support the upload of social policy products as needed to the internal content sharing platform;
  • Any additional tasks as discussed and agreed upon with the supervisor.
  1. Support the production and dissemination of Knowledge products and relative advertisement in Social Media and Website. This may include indicatively but not exhaustively the following tasks:

Develop, in close collaboration with the SPME and External Communication Sections tailored content, designs, and dissemination plans for Knowledge products and relative advertisement in Social Media and Website;

  • Writing attractive and relatable content to translate knowledge products for a wider audience. Writing of synthetic summaries and highlights linked to them;
  • Drafting content for corporate social media accounts. Proofreading and translating content for social media and overall communication messages for SPME individual accounts;
  • Support the design of knowledge products like visual charts and infographics;
  • Liaising with partners and supporting External Communication Section to provide documentation and coverage of events is provided.
  • Support External communication in the choice of the document to be uploaded in the webpages of the SPME section;

    3.Support the coverage of events and high-level meetings linked to partnerships of UNICEF Egypt Social Policy section with government and Academia or linked to the production of UNICEF Egypt authored documents. This may include indicatively but not exhaustively the following tasks:

  • Based on an agreed posting plan, ensure Social Media coverage of events on individual accounts and knowledge products as deemed relevant; Support the visibility on corporate accounts;

  • Support the timely and accurate production and dissemination of materials related to events (banners, leaflet, invitations etc) and products both in English and Arabic;
  • Liaise with partners and contractors as deemed necessary;
  • Support the SPME section in various activities, including: high-level meetings and others to advertise and market our products and events;
  • Any additional tasks as discussed and agreed upon with the supervisor.

METHODOLOGY

The incumbent will be asked to support the SPME section by gaining in depth knowledge on Social Policy for children in Egypt, with reference to Social Protection and Cash in Emergency, Data for children and Public Finance for Children. The knowledge gained should be used to support the section in communicating results against these areas and may be carried out through supporting the development of, indicatively but not exhaustively:

  • Social media strategies;
  • Knowledge Products dissemination strategies;
  • Event communication strategies.

  1. AUC-JPAL Partnership:

- work with J-PAL and Ex-Comm on the preparation of posts on the 4th Spotlight Seminar on Health and Nutrition

- Draft 2-3 tweets on Twitter on the Spotlight Seminar

- Arrange with Ex-Comm to post the publication of the seminar on UNICEF official website

  1. CAPMAS Partnership:

- In collaboration with Ex-Comm, prepare the launch event of Child Unit in CAPMAS

- Coordinate the photographing and video production of the event

- Draft 1 opening speech for UNICEF Representative

- Draft 1 press release for the event and arrange with Ex-comm to disseminate it on the website.

  1. Ministry of Finance (MOF)

(a) Prepare the dissemination of the Transparency brief.

- Draft 2-3 tweets regarding the briefs on Twitter

- Draft 1 post of the brief on LinkedIn

- Arrange with Ex-Comm to upload the brief on UNICEF Official site

(b) Prepare the dissemination of Youth Participation into the budget process and activation

- Draft 2-3 tweets on the brief

- Draft 1 post of the brief on LinkedIn

(c) Prepare the dissemination of the SDG mapping methodology training

- Draft 2-3 tweets regarding the briefs on Twitter

- Draft 1 post of the brief on LinkedIn

  1. FEPS, Cairo University

- Coordinate the graphic design and photographing for the documentation of events for the BEXF facility, workshops and final conference

- Draft 1 press release for the final conference

  1. Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor in this regard

- In close collaboration with Ex-Comm, support the media coverage to cover launch event on Social Media platforms and LinkedIn.

Ministry of Finance

- Prepare a brief on how to cover Launch event of SDG mapping methodology training

- In close collaboration with Ex-Comm, support the media coverage to cover launch event on Social Media platforms and LinkedIn.

Poverty Analysis

- Prepare a brief on how to cover Launch of the national MPI and CMPI related events, training

- Draft 2-3 tweets on each event to be shared on tweeter

- Draft a post on each event to be shared on LinkedIn

- Prepare a coverage plan on how to cover any other high-level meetings and events to the section and support the media coverage to cover all other events and some high-level meetings on Social Media

Participate in the development of UNICEF activities to raise its profile in the field of Social Protection and Public Finance for Children in social media and to tailor its messages to target groups (youth, donors, high-level decision-makers, journalists, academia).

Participate in regular monthly internal and external meetings as deemed necessary to understand what, where and how to communicate on Social Media and in general to keep update on the section’s work.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • BA in Social Sciences or any other relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional and/or volunteering and/or internship experience in communication and content creation, with a specific edge on digital media is required. Experience with international organizations and social policy-related issues is an asset.
  • Previous experience in the UN is an asset;
  • Facebook Blueprint, Twitter Flight school, Google analytics recent (< 2 years) certificates are desirable
  • English and Arabic proficiency
