Overview

Support communication and advocacy efforts for UNICEF.

You have:

  • BA in Mass Communication
  • More than five years’ experience in Communication field
  • Proficiency in writing and editing skills in English and Arabic
  • Good knowledge of UNICEF mandate
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, deliver quality of work, and meet tight deadlines

How can you make a difference?

Objective:

Ensure the quality, visibility and consistency of communications and messaging related to children’s rights.

Support the implementation of UNICEF communication and public advocacy strategy as follows:

  • Documenting several UNICEF interventions including developing human-interest stories and related multimedia productions as well as required input to donor’s reporting
  • Organizing high level functions, developing media kits and following up on media relations
  • Acting as Master of Ceremony for joint functions organized by UNICEF

ACTIVITIES, DELIVERABLES AND TIMELINES, PLUS BUDGET PER DELIVERABLE:

Ensure quality visibility and highlight children’s issues and UNICEF interventions in Egypt. The following deliverables are required:

  1. Support the production of Human-Interest stories/News alerts and audio-visual material.

Develop at least twenty human interest stories, photo essays, news alerts, social media content and audio-visual material highlighting children’s issues addressed through UNICEF supported interventions.

  1. Support in Organizing several advocacy events.

At least ten events have taken place (campaign launch event & field visits), with the consultant/contractor developing the events concept notes, liaising with the relevant partners and programme focal points, developing key messages, media kit and ensuring that the function is taking place according to UNICEF standards.

  1. Advocacy with high level partners and Media entities

At least five advocacy roundtable discussions on children’s issues are conducted.

Proposed Payment Schedule:

Monthly basis, upon delivery of monthly report including a log of major activities and progress, achievements, constraints and recommendations.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

Work will be undertaken in an office setting. A computer will be provided.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
