How can you make a difference?

The consultant will be responsible for gathering content on data for children using existing data sets from UNICEF and partners and then design and elaborate data for children information fact sheets for print and digital platforms using infographics and visually appealing formatting. This will bring together all the available data for children in a format that is user-friendly. It will also serve the requirement to ensure that information is centralized and from a credible source.

  1. Review of Available Data for Children information available in UNICEF and with partners
  2. Development of Data for Children Fact Sheet Templates for digital and print using updated data visualization, design, and infographic techniques
  3. Preparation of 1 overview and 6 thematic fact sheets

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in information management, communications, monitoring or data related field or equivalent experience
  • A basic degree in a social science with relevant work experience in data visualization, infographics and graphic design with a strong grasp of monitoring and data presentation
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience working in communications, graphic design / infographics and data visualization, and/ or content creation
  • Familiarity with data and monitoring for children including available data sets in South Africa
  • Similar work experience /consultancy in another UN agency or international organization
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain work relationships
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and presentation skills

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
