The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.

How can you make a difference?

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Migration Consultant for the NYHQ Cloud Adoption Project in defined activities related to NYHQ 3UN Data Center Cloud Lift and Shift. The work is on-site in UNICEF New York HQ, US.

Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities:

* Inventory, Coordination and Information Gathering

With the supervision of the Project Manager, the consultant will assist by locally coordinating with server owners, stakeholders, and cloud operators to ensure a smooth migration process.

Responsibilities

  • Build Master Inventory of Candidate Assets for the migration and attach proper action for each, planning dates, prerequisites, dependencies, and other associated essential details.
  • Collaborate with server owners to gather necessary information about the servers to be migrated.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure their requirements are understood and addressed.
  • Actively Contribute in the Creation And Updating Relevant Project Document Deliverables
  • Additionally: Assist in documenting and organizing gathered information for future reference.

* Cloud Lift and Shift Activities

In direct collaboration with the Cloud Operator and Cloud Architect, the consultant will assist in provisioning cloud resources for the migration project and winding down source On-Prem resources.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the cloud migration project manager to determine the required cloud resources for the migration.
  • Assist in the preparation and pre-configuration of source resources before lift and shift activities
  • Assist in the configuration of destination resources before, during and after lift and shift
  • Follow existing Cloud Provisioning Standards and Policies, collaborate in the enhancement of existing processes for this and future Cloud Migration Projects
  • Perform Testing and Reporting on Testing
  • Additionally: Collaborate with the cloud infrastructure tooling team to ensure proper ingestion of migration assets and automated creation of cloud resources.

* Cloud Operations of Migrated Resources

The consultant will assist in the ongoing cloud operations of the migrated resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Monitoring and Health of the migrated cloud resources.
  • Collaborate with the cloud operations and on-prem infrastructure teams to ensure a smooth transition and operation of the cloud resources.
  • Additionally: Participate in the evaluation of file sharing options and provide recommendations for the best approach in the Azure environment.

  • Professional Experience/Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar is desirable.
    • Certifications on Windows Client, Windows Server, Device Management Technologies, Azure Cloud are desirable.
    • Proven Knowledge of Data Center Operations on Intel-based Servers is required.
    • Proven Experience Supporting Applications and Servers is required.
    • Proven experience following and contributing to Process, Inventories, Service Support and Documentation is required.
    • Experience of System Tools like VMWare, HyperV, Windows Server, Linux, Application and Server Monitoring, Scripting, Management Tools like Active Directory, GPOs, Terraform, Ivanti is required.
    • Capacity to Interact in a Project Environment, Willingness to Learn New Technologies is required.
    • 5 Years Experience working in a Data Center Environment is required.

    Language Requirements:

    Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.
