Contract Type: Full-time consultancy (8 months)

Location: UNFPA New York Headquarters

Scope of Work:

The Campaigns Project Manager position is located in the Media and Communications Branch (MCB) of the Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships and works under the direct supervision and overall guidance of the Editorial and Content Adviser.

The incumbent will be responsible for planning and overseeing global creative campaigns to ensure it is in line with corporate goals and strategy and executed with high impact, seamlessly and within budget and on time.

The incumbent will work closely with the broader media and communications team to ensure the campaigns and their messaging are effectively integrated in outreach and products and rolled out across channels to reach target audiences. Engaging stakeholders across all levels of the organization to ensure understanding and ownership will also be required, in addition to planning and coordinating campaign-related events.

You would be a good fit for this role if you are a strategic thinker and effective project manager who can create and implement advocacy and communications campaigns that build brands.

Major duties and responsibilities:

In close collaboration with the project strategist and leader:

  • work with the team to determine and define project scope, objectives and deliverables
  • create long- and short-term project work plans including key tasks and milestones, team roles, budgets and timelines/deadlines
  • monitor progress, ensure project is on track and team members stay on task and on time
  • provide project updates and communicate effectively across the team and stakeholders to ensure all are informed of project milestones, leadership buy-in, and deliverable deadlines
  • coordinate roles across team to ensure synergy
  • liaise with external designers and other creative agencies and partners including talent representation
  • manage budget, highlight resource gaps/needs, and adjust project plan or budget as needs change
  • provide programme, administrative, and logistics support to the planning and management of campaign-related events
  • drive procurement processes, manage contracts with vendors and suppliers, as/if necessary
  • monitor progress and measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
  • draft reports detailing campaign results for management

Qualifications:

  • Advanced University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Information, Public Relations, Marketing/Branding and Social Sciences or a related field(s) or a bachelor's degree in a related field with two additional years of experience;
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional project management or related strategic communications, marketing/branding, public relations experience at the international level;
  • Demonstrated experience managing communications projects or creative campaigns;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred;
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle according to outlined scope, budget and timeline;
  • Hands-on experience planning and organizing high-level events in coordination with partners and liaising with vendors;
  • Excellent analytical skills and proven ability to solve problems creatively and independently;
  • Highly organized, resourceful, detail-oriented and able to juggle competing priority deadlines and work well under tight deadlines and in a team;
  • Creative with a strong sense of design desirable;
  • Excellent command of written English and proven ability to report and write engaging communications;
  • Sensitivity to the issues addressed by UNFPA and the wider UN system;
  • Experience working within the UN system or an international organization desirable;
  • Understanding of G Suite (Google apps for business) desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required, knowledge of a second UN language is an asset.
