Overview

Conduct remote sensing analysis and flood modelling for Inlay Lake.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Remote Sensing, GIS, Environmental Science, Climate Science, Geography, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in remote sensing and GIS analysis; Flood risk and spatial hazard assessment; Climate change impact analysis; Spatial data processing and satellite imagery interpretation; Terrain and watershed analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience using relevant software and tools such as ArcGIS/QGIS; Google Earth Engine; Remote sensing platforms and geospatial analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and technical reporting skills with ability to synthesize complex spatial and hydrological data into actionable recommendations.
  • Good English writing and presentation skills. The final deliverable must be submitted in English.

WWF-Myanmar is now inviting applications for the “Consultancy Assignment for Flood Risk Analysis of Inlay Lake Basin using Remote Sensing,” to be conducted remotely over an 8-week period. The assignment seeks to engage a qualified consultant or consulting firm to undertake remote sensing analysis and flood modelling to assess environmental changes and model potential downstream flood scenarios under different rainfall intensities and climate conditions around Inlay Lake.

Objective of the consultancy

The overall objective of this consultancy is to generate scientific evidence and spatial analysis to support climate resilience planning and flood risk management in the Inlay Lake region through:

Remote sensing analysis of historical and recent changes in lake systems, river morphology, wetlands, and land cover;

Assessment of environmental and watershed conditions influencing flood risks;

Spatial analysis of potential downstream flood exposure under different rainfall intensity scenarios;

Identification of flood-prone downstream communities and infrastructure; and

Provision of practical recommendations for climate adaptation, ecosystem restoration, and disaster risk reduction planning.

Scope of work includes 1) Inception and Methodology Development, 2) Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis, 3) Flood Risk and Spatial Analysis, 4) Flood Scenario Mapping and 5) Final Reporting & Recommendations.

Requirements
