The assignment is in line with UNV's support to the preparation of national voluntary review (VNR) reports in selected countries across Africa. The VNR process aims to facilitate the sharing of experiences, including successes, challenges and lessons learned, with a view to accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. VNRs also seek to strengthen government policies and institutions and mobilize multi-stakeholder support and partnerships for the implementation of the SDGs.

UNV and other volunteerism stakeholders work to increase the recognition of volunteerism's contributions to the 2030 Agenda in VNR reports. To achieve this goal, UNV works with UN Member States and other stakeholders to inform evidence on whole-of-society approaches in their VNRs. The average estimated workload is expected to include reviewing documents (these can include articles, studies, reports, national plans, policies, strategies, etc.) throughout the assignment duration.

The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with regional and country level teams at UNV and learn about how research on the situation of volunteerism can support the integration of volunteerism as means of accelerating the achievement of the SDGs at country level.
