The Online Volunteer will use desk research to report on the implementation status of tobacco control policies for countries participating in the FCTC 2030 project. Implementation status reports are documents that, for each country, summarize current tobacco control policy implementation levels, gaps, and barriers to policy scale-up, and recommendations for improvement. The desk research will entail reviewing national plans, legislation and official documents, as well as a variety of additional sources.

Rule of law, judicial and national legal system reform
The UNDP Health and Development team has been working closely with the Secretariat to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) on a five-year project titled FCTC 2030. The project aims to accelerate country progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals by strengthening cost-effective tobacco control policies set forth in the FCTC. More than 20 countries are now part of the project, and UNDP is assisting countries in the development of their national strategies for tobacco control, in crafting guidelines to shield the government from industry interference, and in other tobacco control governance measures and interventions. The implementation analyses will be used to brief UNDP staff and consultants, guiding our country support.
