You have:
- At least 2 to 3 years of work experience in the same or similar position.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in law, Psycho-social or similar fields; MBA degree is preferable.
- Experience in Safeguarding within a professional setting.
- Strong analytical skills related to feedback mechanisms, safeguarding, protection, and similar matters.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically and possess strong communication skills.
- Ability to travel to other IRC field sites and province field project sites for training and orientations.
- Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English.
- Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage.
Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job:
The Community Safeguards and Diversity Officer assists the safeguarding Manager in ensuring the IRC-Afghanistan safeguarding policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures are well defined for all staff, both in operations and program and everyone understands and adheres to them. The Community Safeguards and Diversity Officer will also provide safeguarding training to the staff in the mission and enhance staff knowledge and awareness of IRC safeguarding policies and procedures. She will also monitor the safeguarding-related activities on the field to ensure all safeguarding activities are done on time.
Allocation of duty station:
The Community Safeguards and Diversity Officer will be based in Kabul with extensive travel to all IRC field offices where more support will be needed to give to other staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Safeguarding Manager in initiating the annual plan for safeguarding training and field visits. - Conduct safeguarding training for staff per the safeguarding training plan. - Work with staff to ensure that safeguarding is a key consideration in the organization’s activities across the mission. - Assist the Safeguarding Manager in contextualizing the training and IEC materials. - Conduct client safeguarding training as required by the proposal. - Monitor safeguarding-related activities during her field visit and, provide advice to safeguarding focal points where needed. - Act as the point of contact for any Community safeguarding issues that may arise. - Maintain accurate and confidential information related to staff, clients, or beneficiaries’ concerns. - To establish strong working relations with the IRC provincial safeguarding focal points and program safeguarding focal points to ensure all safeguarding activities are implemented on time. - To keep IRC provincial staff updated on all safeguarding matters in a consistent manner. - Conducted safeguarding training for the IRC partners at the provincial level. - Conduct field visits and provide a field visit report with appropriate recommendations and action points to the relevant department. The report is to be shared with the Safeguarding Manager. - Conduct meetings regularly with the safeguarding Manager and participate in monthly safeguarding focal points meetings. - Liaison with and report to the Safeguarding Manager when safeguarding issues arise and obtain necessary guidance in a timely manner. - Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the safeguarding policy and procedures among field staff. - At the field level, work closely with the field coordinator, program managers, Access team, and security team to ensure safeguarding standards are in place and considered in the overall operation. - To work on any other job related tasks assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications
- At least 2 to 3 years of work experience in the same or similar position (experience with an international NGO or UN Agencies) - Minimum bachelor’s degree in law, Psycho-social or similar fields and an MBA degree is preferable. - Experience in Safeguarding within a professional setting. - Strong analytical skills related to feedback mechanisms, safeguarding, protection, and similar matters. - Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically and possess strong communication skills. - Ability to travel to other IRC field sites and province field project sites to promote safeguarding awareness through training and orientations. - Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English - Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage. - Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background.
