You have:

• Demonstrable experience working overseas in community and/or educational development activities.
• Significant experience of participatory research techniques and community-based approach in a working context.
• Experience of conducting needs or risk assessments to design and implement appropriate interventions.
• Clear understanding of Non-Technical survey and impact assessment within Mine Action.
• Experience in the monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
• Experience in the design and delivery of formal or informal training and transfer of skills to others.
• High level of spoken and written English and Arabic language skills.
• Completion of a recognised EORE course or Mine Action related training would be highly desirable.

Community Liaison Manager – Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) Amman, Jordan 12 months fixed term contract The starting salary package for this position is £37,928 GBP / approx. $48,040 USD including all allowances.

About MAG MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role The Community Liaison Manager will assist the Head of Mission and Emergency Response Manager to ensure that MAG’s approach to community participation in mine action is integrated into the strategic direction, planning and implementation of programme activities. The role is responsible for managing safe and effective community liaison activities in both Gaza and the West Bank.

As Community Liaison Manager, you will undertake the overall training, development, assessment and monitoring of CL field activities and processes, in line with internal, national and international standards, supporting MAG’s CL staff and partners on the ground. Alongside this, the Community Liaison Manager will be expected to contribute to the design and development of planning and data gathering tools, contributing to information management systems, supporting the development of donor proposals, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment and working with the programme to enhance CL strategy. This role will be based in Amman, Jordan initially, providing remote support, with the aim to move into OPT in the future.

About you You will have demonstrable experience working overseas in community and/or educational development activities. You will need significant experience of participatory research techniques and community-based approach in a working context and of conducting needs or risk assessments in order to design and implement appropriate interventions. You should have a clear understanding of Non-Technical survey and impact assessment within Mine Action.

You will also be experienced in the monitoring and evaluation of development projects and in the design and delivery of formal or informal training and transfer of skills to others. You will also have excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate activities and projects in line with accountability principles. Although not essential, completion of a recognised EORE course or Mine Action related training would be highly desirable.

A high level of spoken and written English and Arabic language skills will be essential.

About MAG’s Occupied Palestinian Territories Response Extensive use of precision-guided weapons, air-dropped munitions, land surface ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in OPT has destroyed critical infrastructure and created a complex contamination profile. The risk associated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) will significantly impact reconstruction efforts, food security, and access to clean water. The MAG OPT Emergency Response aims to address these risks by educating communities, identifying, and clearing explosive hazards, and developing national capacity.
