Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. One aspect of the IRC is to assist refugees resettling in the United States. The IRC opened a Denver office in 2016 to provide reception and placement services to newly arrived refugees. The office is slated to resettle more than 400 refugees in the coming federal fiscal year. Wraparound program services and holistic supports aim to realize positive impact in clients’ safety, health, education, economic wellbeing, and power. Some services are limited to refugees and other Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)-eligible populations, while others are open to a broader population of refugees, immigrants, and forcibly displaced people.

Job Overview: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with external partners, and management of the family mentorship, volunteer, community sponsorship, client voices, and advocacy programs for IRC’s Denver office. The specific areas of responsibility and oversight include external partnership management, community outreach, special events, volunteer and donor stewardship, community sponsorship development, the Denver Client Advisory Council, and local Colorado state advocacy. As a Denver senior leadership team member, the Community Engagement Manager shares responsibility with other program and operations managers for providing effective oversight over office operations and good stewardship of resources.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the Community Engagement Strategic Action Plan. - Conduct outreach and networking activities to recruit and educate potential donors, volunteers, interns, advocates, and general supporters. - Represent the IRC in Denver at relevant meetings, seminars, forums, and consultations across Colorado. - Oversee the volunteer and community sponsorship programs, supporting as needed with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, volunteer team coordination, and sponsorship revenue. - Coordinate with the Development Team to best steward volunteers who are also donors, as well as organizations and businesses who have potential to support the office through donations and volunteers. - Increase the IRC in Denver’s visibility in the Colorado community and support with appropriate marketing and content development to share with stakeholders. - Field community requests and channel them to the appropriate staff, supporting with all follow-up and partnership management. - Ensure proper documentation and records are kept on all external organizational partners, including historical context, updated contacts, and current engagement with the IRC; Develop stewardship plan for organizational partners. - Coordinate with the Development Team on external communications via the monthly newsletter, social media, and website announcements. - Support the planning, coordination, and execution of IRC events for volunteering, client mentorship, and general outreach.

Advocacy

- In coordination with the Executive Director and the RAI State Advocacy Team, support the development and implementation of an annual advocacy strategies in Colorado, including mapping stakeholders and priorities; conducting education, awareness-raising, and advocacy to influence policy makers and elected leaders; and promoting pro-refugee initiatives amongst state, local, and federal leaders. - As needed, represent the IRC or coordinate representation for testimony before the Colorado General Assembly in support of or opposition to applicable policies. - Schedule and support meetings on behalf of the IRC with stakeholders including, but not limited to, city, state, and federal elected officials and their staff, community-based organizations, ethnic community-based organizations, and impacted community members; - Foster connections between the IRC in Denver and local allies and influencers, including supporting coalition-building where appropriate and representing the IRC in local coalitions.

Client Responsiveness

- Ensure support for and sustainability of the Denver Client Advisory Council; - Share formal feedback with the Denver Senior Management Team to influence office policies, procedures, programming, and the Denver office Strategic Action Plan. - Provide guidance and support to ensure the incorporation of client responsiveness in program design and implementation.

General Management Duties

- Meet regularly with program staff to create and review community engagement goals. - Maintain ongoing communication with the Executive Director. - Participate actively in the IRC Denver Senior Management Team meetings and liaise with other program managers to ensure efficient collaboration with all departments in the delivery of quality services. - Other tasks as needed and assigned by the Executive Director. - Other Responsibilities - Participate as an active member of the office leadership team and relevant internal and external groups. - Lead the team members; formally evaluate team and individual performance to ensure objectives have been met. - Provide regular coaching and feedback to staff. - Facilitate interdepartmental communication and information sharing. - Other duties as assigned.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Position Directly Supervises: Client and Community Engagement Specialist, Community Engagement Coordinator, Volunteer and Intern Coordinator, Community Sponsorship Coordinator

Requirements:

- A Master’s degree preferred in a relevant field of study. - Minimum 2 years prior professional experience in leadership roles in a nonprofit or social services environment or equivalent relevant work experience. - 2+ years prior supervisory experience. - Demonstrated experience with all facets of the role, including public relations, special events; multi-channel campaigns and appeals and volunteer management. - Excellent interpersonal communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with grantors, volunteers, partner agencies, government officials, multi-cultural clients and colleagues on all levels. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook; CRM platforms. - Tech savvy and experienced using the Internet and social media as a development tool. - Outstanding organizational, leadership and team-building skills: the ability to promote productivity and efficiency. - Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment highly desirable. - Ability to work nontraditional hours including weeknights and weekends as occasionally necessary.

Working Environment

- A combination of standard office environment and remote work. - Staff are required to adhere to IRC’s COVID risk mitigation policies, which may include masking, physical distancing, enhanced hygiene practices, symptom screening, and isolation and quarantine when needed. IRC policies may be stricter than federal, state, or local level policies. - Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, regular position classified as exempt, and therefore not eligible for overtime under state and federal law. Compensation range is $66,500- $76,383 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. In the US, this total compensation package includes: 10 sick days, 10 US holidays, 20-25 paid time off days depending on role and tenure, medical insurance starting at $120 per month with low to no deductible; dental insurance starting at $7 per month; vision insurance starting at $5 per month; FSA for healthcare, dependent care, and commuter costs; a 403b retirement savings plans with immediately vested employer matching; disability & life insurance; generous parental leave; and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support counseling and care in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
