The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the successful integration of refugees, asylees, and other immigrants by leading programming that harnesses the power of welcoming communities. This position collaborates with IRC staff to determine needs, coordinate community outreach, connect clients with community-based resources, recruit and manage volunteers and interns, and oversee the co-sponsorship program. The Community Engagement Coordinator role expands the partner network, increases in-kind donations and donated services, and develops a substantial volunteer and intern program for the new IRC Louisville office.

Primary Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

- In close collaboration with the Development Manager, define and implement an effective local community engagement strategy to provide general support for the IRC’s mission and clients, financial and in-kind donations, and volunteer/intern program. Expected engagement includes meeting with community members; soliciting opportunities to speak publicly about the IRC and actively enlist community involvement; delivering presentations; and representing IRC at local events. - Serve as the primary point of contact at the IRC in Louisville for local community members and groups interested in involvement for support. - Build strong rapport with community-based groups (i.e., businesses, civil society, faith-based organizations, etc.) to increase in-kind donations, donated services, co-sponsorships, and overall awareness of the mission and work of the IRC. - Actively recruit new volunteers and interns—including offering regular information sessions for potential volunteers, interns, and mentors across the city—take part in candidate interviews, and process candidate background checks. - Oversee the onboarding and exit process for all volunteers and interns: regularly scheduled orientation sessions, confidentiality instruction, general and assignment-specific training, setting up and closing IRC accounts, etc. - Manage volunteer and intern records, monthly timesheets, assignments, and needs. - In close collaboration with the Development Manager, enhance the existing volunteer and intern training materials and process. - Coordinate and manage household and group sponsorships matched with cases. Ensure timely delivery of documentation of services for sponsored families, in accordance with donor guidelines, and provide initial orientation to community sponsorship participants and assist throughout the process. Find resolutions to any issues that may arise.

Additional Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

- Ensure accurate reporting of logged volunteer/intern hours in Salesforce and Integra. - Create tools, fact sheets, presentations, and templates for community engagement purposes. - Liaise actively with program managers and other staff members on intern/volunteer opportunities for their respective programs. - Assist with the collection, inventory, and distribution of in-kind donations. - Work collaboratively with the IRC team to ensure delivery of services to clients. - Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. - 2-3 years of related professional experience. - Prior volunteer or professional experience in community development or volunteer coordination strongly preferred. - Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred. This position will work directly with clients at times. - Self-direction and initiative, when needed, to take the lead and to follow through to completion. - The proven abilities to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. - Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multicultural environment. - Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC’s clients is desired. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes. - Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - May require weekend and/or evening work.
