Job Description

The Community Engagement Assistant will be supporting in the implementation of the Refugee Outreach Volunteer ROV program across programming location in North Bekaa. This will include day-to-day support and guidance for the ROVs, in collaboration with the Community Engagement Officer. The Community Engagement Assistant will also coordinate the activities of ROVs in the field, providing information materials, holding meetings, and following up on cases referred by the ROVs. Finally, the Community Engagement Assistant will support in conducting ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the ROV program as needed. The Community Engagement Assistant will report directly to the Community Engagement Officer.

In coordination with the Community Engagement Officer, the Community Engagement Assistant will collaborate on certain project related tasks and deliverables with 3 MSAs (Municipal Support Assistants).

Major Responsibilities: Major responsibilities of the Community Engagement Assistant (not exhaustive) are listed below:

- Support in managing and coaching a pool of ROVs in North Bekaa. - Coordinate with the Community Engagement Officer on the activities of the ROVs such as sending referrals, and conducting awareness/info sessions, through daily follow ups and monthly meetings. - Closely monitor the communication channels with ROVs to track protection trends, incidents, and urgent referrals. - Ensure timely reporting on identified protection trends and incidents. - Manage/follow up on protection referrals identified by the volunteers. - Coordinate closely with the Referral Officer, Protection Monitoring Officer, CDC officer, and Senior Legal Officer to make sure the volunteers are provided with updated information about available services to refugees. - Ensure timely submission of ROVs attendance sheets and support in finance and logistics related matters as needed. - Support in establishing, mobilizing, and monitoring Site Community Groups. - Support in conducting training and coaching sessions for ROVs and community groups as needed. - Conduct field visits to provide technical guidance to the ROVs. - Support in monitoring the ROVs work and reporting any identified gaps. - Maintain accurate database with complete and clean information collected. - Collaborate on certain project related tasks and deliverables with the MSAs. - Provide support in various activities related to the program, including community events, CDC activities, kiosks and others as needed. - Lead FGDs with beneficiaries and stakeholders as needed. - Perform other duties, as needed, or requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

- Minimum 1 year of experience in community-based protection, including outreach, awareness raising, and safe identification and referrals. - Very good understanding of refugee context. - Very good knowledge of protection and do-no-harm principles. - Basic knowledge in data collection methods.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- Ability to work with community and groups of individuals. - Excellent communication skills. - Very good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines. - Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently. - Flexible and able to work in a dynamic and evolving environment. - Ability to work with a range of stakeholders (Community, INGO/NGO, Municipal). - Ability to facilitate and support training of groups. - Good Computer Skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social work, Journalism, Business administration or related field.

Language Skills: Fluency in Arabic and ability to communicate and write clearly in English required.

Working Environment:

Located in Zahle office, standard working environment (30%), and field work (70%).
