You have:

World Vision Solomon Islands is recruiting for a Community Development Facilitator (Honiara) to support a new USG DRL-funded project that supports the meaningful political and civic participation of youth in the Solomon Islands for an estimated timeframe of 24-36 months. The project will be implemented in Honiara City and Malaita Province. The Community Development Facilitator (Honiara) will support the implementation of the new youth leadership project to be on time, on budget and on target (meeting desired outcomes) for the Honiara element of the project. S/he is expected to nurture partnerships, together with the Project Coordinator, with the project partners, with the youth populations, linked to youth development and leadership in Honiara. Note that this position is subject to funding.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Youth and partner mobilization and engagement
  • Project planning and implementation
  • Project monitoring, learning and reporting

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION FOR THE ROLE:

  • Previous experience working in youth leadership, youth and development and in particular in civics, in Solomon Islands and/or South Pacific.
  • Experience in implementing youth programming methodologies and approaches
  • Community Development Certificate /Diploma/Degree or 5 years’ experience as a community development facilitator
  • Preferred youth leadership experience
  • Written and verbal communication - fluency in English required.
  • Knowledge of youth in development in the Solomon Islands desirable.
  • Strong planning, organizational skills and ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
  • Data collection
  • Report writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with national staff and a passion for capacity building & organizational development.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems, persuade, network and negotiate
