Result of Service The ultimate result of this service is to facilitate collaboration and support within the Arab region's practice community, especially in the context of the Arab SMEs Summit, under the guidance of the ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC).

Duties and Responsibilities Individual Contractors (IC) services are needed to assist the ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) in community coordination for its project related to supporting the community of practice in the Arab region, particularly in the context of the Arab SMEs Summit. This role involves actively engaging with the community, facilitating its participation, and focusing on building a collaborative and supportive community environment, in addition to other related responsibilities as outlined below.

The IC will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC).

In particular, the Project Coordinator will be tasked to do the following:

  • Actively engage with community members, facilitating their participation in ETC's project, including the Arab SMEs Summit, to support the Arab region's community of practice.
  • Play an active role in implementing ETC's project for supporting the community of practice, ensuring effective execution of all project activities and providing necessary support to community members.
  • Oversee and meticulously manage the collection of knowledge and training materials beneficial to the community, ensuring timely access to relevant resources.
  • Attend community meetings, closely monitor discussions on pertinent topics, and accurately document key points and insights for future reference and action.
  • Assist in curating valuable content for the community, including articles, guides, or resources, to enhance community members' knowledge and engagement.
  • Support in the preparation of community events, including organizing agendas, informational materials, presentations, and substantive background content, ensuring their value to the community.
  • Draft routine correspondences, such as emails, letters, memos, and other communications, tailored to engage effectively with community members and stakeholders as needed.
  • Efficiently respond to or draft responses in English for various correspondence and communications related to community matters, maintaining professionalism and consistency.
  • Be adaptable and prepared to take on additional tasks and duties assigned within the scope of the community project, demonstrating flexibility in addressing evolving community needs and requirements.

The individual contractor will also assist in various administrative services through coordination and support of consultation meetings on the above subject.

Qualifications/special skills A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public relations, Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Public Health, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Communication Studies, and/or related field is required.

All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 7 years of experience in customer service, customer relations, or a related field is required. Skill in organizing and synchronizing project tasks and resources is required. The following skills are desirable: - Proficiency in gathering and analyzing information from diverse sources. - The capacity to convey information clearly and engage effectively with others. - The ability to adjust and thrive in changing environments and situations. - The ability to assist in planning, executing, and overseeing projects effectively.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in Arabic and English are required.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
