You have:
- Higher relevant university degree, including in journalism, media, communications, or relevant experience.
- A minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
- Professional photography, video and social media skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator, and Lightroom preferred.
- Excellent Arabic oral and written (sound journalistic writing style) in Arabic, and ideally English.
- Knowledge of Libyan and regional media and communication networks.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and dedication to humanitarian work.
- Self-starter, able to work and produce quality products with minimal supervision.
- Ability to document powerful stories in a sensitive manner.
- Handling insecure environments.
Contract

- Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities:
- Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Contribute Develop Country Office Media/Communications Plan
- Provide regular progress reports to the Advocacy Manager
- Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills in developing communication materials and engaging with the media
- Promote the rights of displacement-affected Libyans and migrants/refugees in line with the advocacy strategy
Specific responsibilities
CONTENT GATHERING
Shape and develop human stories illustrating humanitarian needs in Libya through multiple mediums (print, photo, video, audio)
Take and edit professional quality photos in various settings
Take professional quality videos to both distribute to media outlets as b-roll or produce and edit for social media
- Interview vulnerable populations in Libya to elevate human stories in media and communications on Libya
- Regularly create content for NRC’s social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and for NRC´s website.
COMMUNICATIONS
- Coordinate the implementation of external communication (public information, communication, reporting) and media (international, regional and local media and social media) strategy, proposals and plans
- Cooperate with relevant internal and external partners (Head Office, Middle East Regional Office, UN, NGOs) to develop coordinated and effective communication campaigns
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements in all external communications.
- Be in constant dialogue with Project Managers, Coordinators and Officers in order to capture NRC programmes in photos and video
- Regularly travel to NRC´s field programs to cover and collect media material from NRC distributions, programmes and field work.
- Produce monthly activity reports and other reporting as required.
- Be an active member of NRC´s Global Communication Network and participate in biweekly regional media calls
MEDIA
- Build relationships with national, regional and international media for advocacy and programme purposes, including through maintaining a network of journalists in Libya
- Ensure the delivery of quality communication products in English and Arabic (feature stories, press releases, infographics, photo-stories, documentaries etc.)
- Engage relevant Libyan media outlets and advise Advocacy Manager on strategic use of national media opportunities to develop NRC’s reputation.
- Serve as NRC’s spokesperson for local and regional media in Libya
- Write press releases in Arabic and translate press statements from English to Arabic
- Support field teams with the preparation for external visits to NRC field activities by media, donors and others, ensuring NRC’s media guidelines and policies are observed.
