Job title: Communications Specialist (Maternity Cover)

Location: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Contract type: Fixed term

Grant Acquisition:

  • Support GAM team on proposal writing by ensuring donors’ communications requirements and standard
  • When necessary, actively participate in the proposal development process, including donor engagement meetings
  • Explore and seek different donors’ ongoing activities and alert the GAM team on possible grant call
  • Ensure WV Mongolia’s branding and success stories are shared with development partners’ groups constantly
  • Develop a digital marketing communications plan to improve WV’s positioning among donors, partners, and stakeholders

Grant Management:

Visibility content development

  • Compelling story-telling of the projects aligns with World Vision’s global brand
  • Evidence of impact demonstrates that we do what we say we do
  • Develop creative content (video, photo, editorial, graphic design)
  • Ensure the creative content is World Vision brand-compliance
  • Coordinate and manage donor visits
  • Ensure designated spokespersons for the project speak as trusted ambassadors for World Vision

Visibility Activities & Donor Engagement

  • Leverage the content created through appropriate social and traditional media channels as defined by World Vision and donor-priority audiences
  • Maintain grant project visibility on the website
  • Manage distribution of content through traditional media channels (TV, radio, website, newspapers, and magazines) and World Vision Mongolia’s official social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)

Planning and Reporting:

  • Ensure Donor visibility plan is developed and implemented in line with donor requirements

  • High contribution to project reporting is developed to a high-quality standard and is engaging for donor audiences

  • Prepare media releases and reports using Grant Project Factsheets and Updates
  • Develop an end-of-project evaluation video based on the evaluation report

General:

  • Contribute to the common goal and aspirations of the WVI Mongolia, be an active member of the team
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Minimum education, training, and experience requirements to qualify for the position

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or public relations
  • A Master’s degree in communications, journalism, or public relations is preferable

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in communications, journalism, or related fields, preferably in international NGOs or the media industry
  • Relevant experience in communicating development project results through social media and other channels

Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough understanding of international development and communications needs
  • Communication and technical skills such as story writing, editorial, photography, and media relations
  • Strong technical and creative writing skills with a complete command of English (spoken and written).
  • Advanced and publishable writing skills for both online and offline dissemination (i.e. press releases, blogs, brochures, news articles, etc.), familiarity with using and posting on social media channels (Facebook, Twitter), and a basic understanding of maintaining web content
  • Basic graphic design, photography, and video editing skills are an asset
  • Analytical and report writing skills through donor’s compliance
  • Understanding of and commitment to World Vision Core Values

Work Environment

  • The position requires the ability and willingness to travel often in the field up to 50% of the time.
