Jakarta has numerous good restaurants as well as plenty of attractive malls and shopping centres, making it one of the most vibrant cities to live in South-East Asia. Jakarta’s climate is generally hot and humid, with the Indonesian wet and dry seasons dividing the year in two. Average temperature is in the upper 30°C range year-round, and the rainy season lasts between November and March.

Jakarta offers various housing options, from modern apartments in central areas to more affordable rentals in suburban districts. Central locations are convenient but tend to be more expensive. Healthcare facilities include both public hospitals and private clinics, with private options often preferred for their higher standards. The cost of living is moderate. Basic expenses such as food and local transportation are affordable, while imported goods and certain services may be more expensive. Most areas are generally safe, but standard precautions against petty crime are recommended.

Mobile phone is the most reliable tool to communicate, and internet services are readily avail- able at the apartment complexes. ATMs are located on every other street in Indonesia and international cards can usually be used to withdraw Indonesian Rupiah.
