Key Responsibilities:

Job Purpose:

To support the Regional Director of External Engagement and Advocacy to ensure the implementation of the Regional External Engagement Strategy, which seeks to extend and deepen WV’s look outward, while ensuring internal alignment. The position holder must build solid collaboration lines with teams of Advocacy, Operations, Faith and Development, Marketing and P&C to deliver strategic outputs in the following areas: 1. Donor & External Engagement communications via technical branding & storytelling 2. Leadership communications & Internal Communications for alignment 3. Emergency Communications 4. Media (public) engagement with regional and global outlets 5. Technical branding

Major Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Director of External Engagement by defining the Regional Communications Strategy and subsequent work plans, driven by External Engagement’s strategic priorities and based on a careful curation of stories and coordination with FOs to produce evidence-based content to enhance external engagement within prioritized targets.
  • Design, develop and manage a regional internal communications system to ensure strategic alignment and engagement of RO and NO staff with the Regional redesign process, in line with the global strategy Our Promise 2030.
  • Identifies and establishes a map of engagement with media, private sector and multilateral stakeholders to contribute to World Vision’s LACRO regional positioning.
  • Build and strengthen a collaborative network of communicators at regional level ensuring capacities and roles at FO level to deliver high-quality contents to support fundraising and awareness-raising activities.
  • Build, strengthen and maintain an updated pool of regional spokespersons for institutional and emergency communications.
  • Coordinate and ensure communications capacities for deployment amid humanitarian emergencies or crisis.
  • Coordinate and manage media requests amid emergencies, to ensure WV’s visibility and coordinate with FO to obtain monthly indicators regarding media engagement.
  • Provide training and build capacities of FOs Comms teams to deliver high-quality storytelling/technical branding skills to improve influence, impact and income, while safeguarding WV’s reputation.
  • Ensure solid positioning of WVLCRO within the Partnership stakeholders, by providing (edit, write, produce or coordinate production of high-quality contents) for GC, SO and global outlets to support their fundraising, advocacy, awareness, positioning, emergency or engagement campaigns.
  • Conceptualize, produce and coordinate virtual events for WV’s external and internal engagement purposes. This includes writing Concept Notes, coordinating with IT the use of the appropriate platforms, coordinating the graphic design of invitations and other support materials and timely booking panelists.
  • Support NO communications teams in the effective servicing of key WV Support Offices (SOs) resource needs for fundraising, marketing, media engagement, emergency responses and public advocacy campaigns.
  • Media engagement: Consistently pitches newsworthy themes to the media and lands earned media spaces aligned with the region’s priorities (migrations, EVAC, climate action, gender and child participation
  • Promotes clear coordination with marketing and fundraising teams at RO and FO to ensure consistent brand positioning.
  • Provide strategic guidance to outsourced services (such as graphic design and web page services) to ensure an updated, technically accurate and relevant image of WV’s brand within its digital outlets (webpage and SSMM profiles).
  • Ensures that all LCRO FO comply with current brand guidelines.
  • Assist and advise NO communications teams on key projects such as media and public advocacy campaigns, website development, content and storytelling.
  • Oversee the scheduled delivery of quality content from NO communications teams for the LACRO Website and replication thereof for other Partnership websites.

Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role

Required Professional Experience

Minimum

  • At least 5 years of experience. Extensive background in communications, marketing or journalism.
  • Experience in coordinating and producing written-video content for donor/sponsor engagement, public advocacy and media relations purposes.
  • Experience creating and implementing internal/external communications strategies
  • Excellent understanding of social media and knowledge of virtual events platforms
  • Excellent writing skills both Spanish and English

Preferred

  • Experience with professional photography and video editing. Content gathering in complex contexts is a plus.
  • News media engagement
  • Sucessful management of campaign and corporate communications strategy
  • Strong interpersonal skills in multicultural contexts.
  • Adaptive, able to work in fast paced environments and manages short deadlines and pressure.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, social communications, marketing or PR

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

Minimum

  • Excellent speaking, writing and editing skills in English and Spanish
  • Committed Christian and individual identified with our core values and humanitarian mandate
  • Self-motivated, creative, digitally savvy
  • Sensitivity to cultural, religious and gender issues
  • Advanced understanding of the internet and latest communication trends/technologies
  • Good understanding of geopolitical, economic and social issues in the LAC region (or the ability to acquire this understanding)
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Story-teller and creative thinking
  • Work under pressure

Preferred

  • Excellent audio-visual production/editing and use of streaming platforms
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Travel within LAC upon demand, to support emergency comms

Language Requirements

  • English and Spanish are a must
