Job Summary

The Communications Officer reports to the Division Chief of the Security Services Division and will work with colleagues both inside and outside of the Security Services Division to manage the production, quality control, and dissemination of the Division’s various communication products. The incumbent will develop and administer a communication plan by applying direction, new concepts and ideas, and best practices in media technology, marketing, and publications.

Specific job-related responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and update the division’s communications plan and coordinate its execution in line with divisional business priorities to maximize effectiveness of messages.
  • Advise divisional colleagues, including the leadership team, on how to engage client audiences effectively and promote the division’s business priorities.
  • Identify key audiences and tailor communication products accordingly in line with the communication plan.
  • Design and significantly contribute to the implementation of marketing campaigns for new products or services of the division.
  • Provide quality-control on major communication products by setting internal guidelines and standard operating procedures for communications-related work in the division.
  • Ensure editorial consistency and adherence to Fund formatting and publication guidelines for all divisional communication products.
  • Act as the divisional Point of Contact on matters related to the use of multimedia, branding guidelines, copyright matters, and the application of technology in communications.
  • Assist divisional colleagues in the creation of emergency communications material and protocols.
  • Liaise with the Internal Communications division in COM and other relevant stakeholders across the Fund to align divisional communication products with the overarching strategy and priorities.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators for security-related communications.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in communications, marketing, international relations, languages, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience, is required. Alternatively, a university degree, or equivalent, and ten years of relevant professional experience are required.

Skills:

  • Outstanding command of the English language in written and verbal form. A spoken and written communication style that is compelling, convincing and reassuring; the communication officer will be expected to speak in front of large audiences.
  • Superior attention to detail and proven practical editorial experience.
  • Proven experience with creating marketing campaigns, either in commercial, political or international organizations environments.
  • Well-developed ability to effectively multitask amid competing priorities.
  • A strong customer service focus, proactive communication style, and ability to build and maintain trusting client relationships in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to initiate and sustain collaboration beyond the team with minimal supervision.
  • Initiative and motivation to proactively learn new developments in relevant policies, procedures and technology. Can proactively identify, prevent and/or solve problems. Able to participate in change activities and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with key innovations and approaches in multimedia and communications technology.

This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fund’s new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.

A regular staff member who is selected to fill the vacancy will maintain their open-ended status. If the selected candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment. Staff members already on a term appointment will continue their current term but may receive an extension provided that their current term appointment has not already been extended.
