**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Culture Sector (CLT) Duty Station: Paris Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Level : Level 3 Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 28-JUN-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Unit Movable Heritage and Museums, the contractor shall support the implementation of the activities carried out by the Secretariat of the 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property (1970). In particular, the Individual Specialist shall: Long Description ---------------- 1. Assist in the implementation of communication activities of the 1970 Convention and the 2015 Recommendation on Museums and Collections and notably in the drafting of related communication texts (webnews, articles, talking points for media), 2. Develop close collaboration with the Communication, Cities and Event Unit, the Media Relations Unit of DPI, and with public information officers in the UNESCO Field Offices in order to reach the press with a view to generating and maintaining public interest on the theme of illicit trafficking of cultural property; 3. Assist in the update (in English and French) of the 1970 Convention’s web pages on the basis of information provided by content holders for the activities and propose the posting of new information and links online; Long Description ---------------- 4. Assist in the redrafting and shortening of texts (in English and French) of the 1970 Convention's web pages; 5. Search for images to illustrate the web pages to enhance their design and negotiate the necessary copyrights; 6. Assist in the liaison with the in-house social media manager in DPI to promote activities, initiatives and campaigns relating to the fight against illicit trafficking; 7. Prepare working documents and presentations for upcoming missions; 8. Assist in the preparation of briefings and correspondence addressed to Member States and other stakeholders. A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in the field of culture, international relations, or related field. Experience in a communication agency and/or communication department. ***Skills And Competencies*** Excellent drafting and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain effective working relations within a multi-cultural environment. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in IT tools relating to communication. ***Languages:*** Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English or French and good knowledge of the other language. ***Work Location And Travel:*** Home based / HQ **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- Good knowledge of the UNESCO Culture Programme and its Conventions.
