• As an active UNDP team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNDP and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:

o Written or produced high quality communications materials such as human-interest stories, press releases, talking points, videos and engaging social media posts. o Preparation of stabilization-related content for UNDP website and social media materials. o Ensure communications and visibility support for events and high-level visits. o Preparation of monthly stabilization newsletter. o Track analytics and develop quarterly reports.

• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Communications Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Communications Officer will: • Write clear and concise human-interest stories, news articles, press releasees, talking points, presentations, speeches and video scripts in English while following UNDP’s style guide. • Support to donor reporting including editing, graphic design, and ensuring adherence to UNDP branding and publication guidelines. • Support with developing a newsletter and updating contact data base of external partners. • Develop content packages and stories for donors to communicate the impact of the programmes under the Stabilization pillar. • Support with content planning and production. This will include overseeing production, editing, dissemination and archiving of high-quality photo and video documenting. • Support with media monitoring and analyzing social media analytics. • Provide visibility and communications support for events and high-level visits. • Provide photography, videography and video editing services, if required. • Collaborate closely with the UNDP Country Office Communications Unit, M&E, External Relations and other teams daily to provide communication and branding support. • Coordinate with vendors, such as ad agencies, translators, photographers and videographers to produce content.

of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in communications, journalism, social media or other relevant programmes; experience with external relations is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, communication skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in content production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in development, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

UN personnel in Iraq operate in a volatile security environment. International personnel operating in Iraq must take online security awareness in the field training (BSAFE) prior to arrival in Iraq and undertake a mandatory Security Induction Awareness Training (SAIT) or SSAFE immediately upon arrival.

Baghdad, Iraq, is a non-family duty station which is classified as Hardship Level E by the United Nations Department of Safety and Security. UN staff members and United Nations Volunteers work and live in a secure compound. Their movements outside the compound are guided by the prevalent UN security guidelines in the duty station.

The Rest and Recuperation (R&R) cycle in Baghdad is 4 weeks, with the designated place of R&R being Amman, Jordan. The dominant currency in use in Iraq is USD. The Iraq Dinar is used with an exchange rate of approximately USD 1 = 1,250 Iraqi dinars.

The market is mostly cash-based; both USD and Iraqi Dinar are widely accepted. Payments by credit cards are accepted in a limited number of shops.
