On April 19, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the city of Caracas, Venezuela between the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the World Food Program (WFP) in which WFP undertook to establish - among others - an office that allows food assistance to be carried out in the national territory. On April 27, the Executive Director approved the creation of a Country Office and on April 30, the WFP arrived to start operations and establish a new office in the city of Caracas and a logistics center in Maracaibo. WFP is implementing a large-scale school meals programme in Venezuela that will progressively expand operations to reach up to 1.5 million beneficiaries by June 2023. Community Engagement activities are amongst the top priorities of WFP Venezuela to ensure beneficiaries and their communities are active participants in the design, implementation and monitoring of the school-meals programme, and that their rights and protection are considered in all decisions taken by WFP

Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Develop, maintain and update an appropriate communications work plan, which implements the corporate communications strategy to enhance the visibility and reputation of WFP in Venezuela, while supporting fundraising activities and ensuring alignment with WFP strategy.

  2. Plan, manage and evaluate communication campaigns designed to favourably impact the views of the public, opinion leaders, and donors, to raise WFP’s profile in the country and support fundraising activities.

  3. Perform communications research and analysis to ensure timely preparation and distribution of information products to target audience(s).

  4. Maintain a contact list of journalists and media outlets and support the flow of news/information about WFP’s work to the media to support regular and appropriate communications while ensuring reputational risks are identified and managed.

  5. Define WFP Venezuela’s social media plan, develop content, and utilise platforms, networks, and partners to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities.

  6. Generate donor specific visibility content including, text, photos, videos, and audio for use across a range of integrated online platforms, to support global and country fundraising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.

  7. Monitor and analyse traditional and social media to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies.

  8. Manage and supervise more junior staff and employees, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries. 9. Build capacity of WFP staff on all aspects of communication (i.e., social media responsibility).

  9. Work in close collaboration internal and external counterparts to support aligned activities and a coherent approach to communications within WFP.

Three years or more of professional experience in a relevant field of work (i.e. Communications, Advocacy or Journalism), with an interest in humanitarian and development assistance

Un subsidio VLA (Volunteer Living Allowance) de USD$1,819.41 dólares que será proporcionado mensualmente para cubrir los costos de alojamiento, vivienda y gastos normales de subsistencia.
Seguro médico con 100% de cobertura (incluidos hasta tres familiares a cargo y odontología), seguros de vida e invalidez permanente están incluidos, así como un subsidio de reinstalación por un servicio satisfactorio.
El/la voluntario/a tendrá derecho a vacaciones y baja médica (si aplicable), cursos de aprendizaje virtuales y subsidio para capacitación, inluye idiomas (reembolsable).
Reembolso de un máximo de 400 dólares para cubir los costos de traslado al lugar de la asignación y subsidio de instalación y repatriación serán provistos en caso de que el destino de trabajo no se encuentre a una distancia razonable del local de residencia del voluntario.
