Who are we?

Danish Refugee Council is a leading humanitarian agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations based on humanitarian principles. DRC applies a regional approach with operational presence in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey & Yemen with a Middle East Regional Office (MERO) based in Amman, Jordan, which has 30 staff. Overall in the region DRC Middle East has more than 1,800 staff and an operating budget of USD 120 million.

About the Internship

The intern will support the team working on DRC’s response in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). The intern will assist in maintaining and enhancing the oPt team's social media platforms, particularly focusing on Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) key messages. Additionally, the intern will support various communications initiatives and develop content as needed for the oPt team.

The tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Social Media Management: Support the enhancement and updating of the oPt team's social media platforms, focusing on EORE key messages and ensuring timely and relevant content.
  • Content Creation: Assist in drafting and creating content specific to the oPt team's needs, including human-interest stories, success stories, and social media posts.
  • Graphic Design: Create basic graphics and images for internal and external communications including utilising AI to generate images for the EORE campaign.
  • Archiving: Manage the archiving of photos and other media on DRC SharePoint (including all metadata and informed consent forms), ensuring they are accessible for use.

Your qualifications:

  • Vocational and academic background in communications, journalism, social media, or related fields.
  • Interest and knowledge in communications, translation, research, writing, photography, and basic design tasks.
  • Experience using graphic design programmes to produce basic graphics and images.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to use AI to generate images.
  • Understanding of the institutional structure of oPt and the Middle East.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Capacity to navigate challenging environments and manage complex tasks.
  • Creativity, motivation, and a flexible attitude, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

We offer

  • Contract length: 3 months, with the potential for extension based on requirements and mutual agreement.
  • Workplace: Middle East Regional Office.

  • Working hours: 15 days per month, with flexibility to accommodate other obligations.

Note: This is an unpaid internship. However, a daily transportation and food allowance will be provided for each active workday.
