Expected duration

The UNEP/Industry and Economy Division internship is for six (6) months, full time: from July until December 2024 or from January until June 2025. Please indicate in your application which internship session you are applying to.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Industry and Economy Division’s Information Officer and the Head of the International Resource Panel (IRP), the intern will assist in developing and updating various information tools and raising awareness on environmental issues among different target groups (governments, business, NGOs, academics, UNEP staff, etc.). Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: • Prepare press clippings on environmental issues twice a week. • Support the development and implementation of the IRP communications activities and administrative tasks. • Regularly update various information platforms: UNEP and IRP websites, UNEP Intranet and entrance screens. • Draft articles and posts for UNEP platforms and for IRP social media channels • Undertake desktop research for reporting purposes and outreach activities. • Support the organization of meetings and events • Attend meetings, draft related minutes, and follow up on action items as required. • Support the compilation of inputs into briefing notes, and format/edit according to the established protocols. • Lead and coordinate the organization of briefing sessions for the Industry and Economy Division’s interns. • Support the Division office in finalizing /formatting Powerpoint presentations.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Have graduated with a university degree. c. Be enrolled in a Master’s degree. Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages

For this internship, fluency in written and oral English is required and a good command in French is desirable.
